hussain87, I think maybe you're trying to get some of us riled (and congrats!! lol, you did it!) but listen. I agree that Islaamic men have the right to marry multiple wives...and when this happens AS INTENDED, its a very nice and good thing.
The thing that makes me so angry and gets me so riled is that it so rarely happens AS INTENDED. Its always the horny old men or the over-sexed pervs that get a "new one" when they tire of the "old one"....they have a "religious excuse" to break the hearts of their families.
This is what I see in practice. The theory is very nice but the practice in this day and time is just pathetic and gross.

Actually, Man with a Plan, the hadith that reports the Prophet not allowing Ali (R) to take on a second wife because Fatima (R) disapproved of it, shows and proves that having permission of the first wife is necessary.
