Re: Multiple Wives
yeah its just sad because i feel sorry for his second wife... he says hes scared of her, basically doesnt like her, adn already plans to have his first kid with his first wife because hes clearly not itnerested in the second wife... its actually strange because he called the second wifes parents when talk of his marriage to her was initiated and simply told them that he didnt want to marry her... but tehy were headstrong on keeping it in the family and forced him to marry her anyway.... it doesnt make sense to me... why would any parent want to ptu their daughter ina position where shes going to be second best and where they already KNOW that the guy doesnt even WANT to marry her.... i think us Muslims need to focus more on religion rather than culture and tradition... because religion is much more important than the other two if you ask me.... the girl is young and educated, has no medical problems, and doesnt need to play second fiddle to anyone.... really very sad. I hope that this cycle of forced marriages, broken hearts, and demeaning behavior comes to an end one day because we as Muslims and Pakistanis are better than that. I've heard one too many sad stories of people not being allowed to marry each other because they weer in love BEFORE marriage, of people being forced to marry cousins or whatever just to honor their parents and tradition... will it ever end???
I understand that Islam allows a man to have up to 4 wives and no more, and even though the debate on circumstances and conditions will continue till the Day of Judgement, I just don't see how anyone could possibly think that the guy in this case is justified and Islamic in his actions. The people that think he has an Islamic right to behave this way have a seriously inaccurate perception of Islam.
