****PESHAWAR: The local Ulema Committee announced on Friday that the Shawwal moon has been sighted in the Mir Ali district of North Waziristan, Express News reported.
Eidul Fitr will be celebrated in the region on August 18, the committee stated.
The committee had received reports of moon sighting from six witnesses.
Earlier, Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted that Shawwal moon would not be sighted even on August 18 and Eid will be celebrated on August 20 in Pakistan.
For the first time in years, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the rest of the country observed the first Ramazan on the same day. However, Eid will be celebrated on different days
Not sure whether to classify this as plain stupid or ignorant. They are celebrating Eid a day ahead of Saudia! This clearly shows their purpose is just to build their derdh eent ki masjid, however they do it. And this after 28 rozas!
I think there is nothing wrong with celebrating multiple eids. But I do believe that Central committee has most resources to agree about moon sighting.
Not just FATA but the whole KP save Hazarawal, celebrated eid a day ahead. This is even though the Meteorological department had said clearly that moon won't be big enough to be sighted.
This is why Central committee rejected all claims of moon sighting from the country. And it was a sensible thing to do.
Still I think there should be one EID, as I dont know of any islamic country which celebrates three Eids. All the countries on the West of Pakistan, US, Middle East, Afghanistan and even the East of Pakistan like Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia etc celebrated Eid today.
There should be a revamping of the Ruet e Hilal Committee and if some people say that they have sighted the moon, that needs to be given some weight. Even Eid's have become political and shows the unity within the country.

this is because their Islam is better than any other out there. was little surprised that they decided to part ways & celebrate b4 saudi arabia ;)
The main reason why these people always celebrate eid on a different day is to make sure that muslims remain divided on Eid. The rest of Pakistan celebrates Eid on one day and these guys always have to celebrate on a different day. They probably get paid for spreading this division in muslims in pakistan just like they get paid for not letting pakistan build kalabagh dam.
Woh to hamesha aisay he krtay hai chahe unko aye ya na aye .......Its a shaitanic act in my opinion to divide the muslim community
So should we doubt them if they say that they have seen the moon? Why aren't their shahadats considered to be reliable?
If the countries to the west of pakistan had Eid today that made sense, but when the people on the east also are celebrating today that means we should also think hard...
