Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

I know he’s a nice guy and everything…I’m not doing any character assassination here alright so let’s make this clear.

It’s just that he’s always stating the obvious…and people are going ooh aah and sharing his statuses. You know this whole business it’s very phony (yes I love this word)…I mean it’s not deep stuff. Just something out of some self help kinda book…or one of those dumb wanna be philosophical internet memes.

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

Let me give you some examples.**

“As you climb the ladder of success in any field, expect many who’ll try to make you slip; out of jealousy or spite. Disregard them and do what’s right.”
**Alright…this stuff is straight out of probably The Secret. Don’t let anyone be in your way to success…disregard them, push them and kick them out of your bloody way if you have to. By any means necessary…Be an alpha ass.

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

“When everyone expects you to complain and be upset over what happened but you chose to smile and carry on patiently - that’s true strength.”

IMO that’s not true strength…you’re just being one of those insensitive sonova…
You know what…it’s okay to cry. Unless you’re a tinman from Dorothy and the Yellow Brick Lane.

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

You know recently after a visit to video forum, i have been fuming because one of our best on this forum appears to be following him [Astagfirullah]

The Ahlus Sunnah of South Africa and Sri Lanka have pointed out a couple of incidences of ‘mufti’ menks kufr. and in all his speeches the guy is constantly bigging up the message, at the un-needed expense of the dhat of The Messenger, Rehmatul lil Alameen, SallAllahu Alaihi wa Ahlihi wa Sallam. It is horrible to see and more horrible to see people actually following him

I am joining you in this protest because I despise to see his face

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

Sister I put it to you that you do not like him not because he is stating the obvious but because the guy is an imposter on the pulpit of RasoolAllah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Ahlihi wa Sallam, and your iman can not accept him as a) Muslim or b) someone who should be an imam to the people!

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

who is this guy?

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

He’s got a huge following on social media…always posting stuff on FB and Twitter.

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

For a moment, I thought, that was his response to your post.

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

I think you are looking at it from self-learning (non-taqleedi) perspective. If so you should criticize the capitalist model instead, where greed is fed to workers by giving them an environment of competition.

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

I feel that way about Yasmin Mougahed - like well dah!!!

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

While I don’t specifically follow him on social media as such, I’ve seen some of his statuses and heard some of his lectures. I haven’t seen anything from him that I would object to. In fact, the vast majority of deeni talks that I’ve heard, people are stating things that we can say are obvious. I take them as beneficial reminders and prefer to look at them more from a perspective of do I have this beneficial advice in my life yet instead of how many times have I heard it.

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

AsSalaamo Alaikum

May Allah reward Mufti Menk for his dawah efforts, and draw all our hearts closer. May Allah guard our hearts from hatred for each other, and our tongues from hurtful speech towards each other.

We never know that Allah might prefer or like someone’s effort better than our own in terms of matters of the deen.

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

:hehe:

Actually MM would be saying something like this to me…

One of the downsides of the Internet is the emergence of HATERS who criticise everything but offer nothing constructive. Ignore them.

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

In other words, I should shut the hell up?

Hey I’m only following MM’s advice. See for yourself…
Don’t sugarcoat things to win people over or to increase your popularity. Always speak the truth no matter how bitter or painful it is.

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

if MM finds this post.. his inner buddha is going to kick in…
and he is going to withdraw from this world.

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

Her name does ring a bell but I haven’t came across any of her gems. A quick google search brought me this…

The best way to ensure you are treated according to your worth is to remember how much value you have with God. A person who knows their value with the Creator, will never allow the creation to devalue them.

How in the world Am I going to know my value with God? I think I’m nothing in God’s eyes. Very depressing stuff.

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

Considering what you posted here, I am sure a lot of things from this guy would match with rumi’s thoughts. Some source at internet tells this quote is from Rumi. Now you can argue that these two quotes has different context.
“When you go through a hard period, When everything seems to oppose you, … When you feel you cannot even bear one more minute, NEVER GIVE UP!
Because it is the time and place that the course will divert!”

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

Rumi’s quote actually makes sense.

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

Brother how can you not detect the stark contrast in the quality of these two statements? As a person studying linguistics you should be able to see the chasm there.

The first statement is asking us to be increasingly suspicious of others as we climb up the ladder of success … Then to ignore any who we deem to be the jealous type … But the paranoia? What if those people are giving us truth? What if they are helping?

The statement by Rumi is recognition of the Surah … Alm nashra laka sadraka … That after hardship there is ease …

Re: Mufti Menk gets on to my nerves.

maybe mufti menk is related to GS grand mufti Monk..
