Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

Re: Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

The Muslim population of three areas (Pakistan+Bangladesh+India) would have constituted 32.5% of Hindu population of present India.

Re: Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

As they were before Pakistan's creation. And we would have been fighting for an independent country today.

Re: Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

Thank you Farid, now I hope Haleem understands this...

Re: Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

Off-course Muslims did! But in modern democracy it was not possisble for Muslims to rule India anymore or even have any major stake over there.

Personally I believe that Muslims of the minority provinces should not have taken part in the Pakistan movement and they should have not migrated to Pakistan in 1947. Only the people living in majority muslims provinces should have opted for Pakistan.

Re: Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

^ That is what Jinnah wanted too in reality... And the fact that it did not happen caused alot of problems for the infant state.

Re: Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

I do not think so he wanted so. He got stood Muslims league candidates from all over India and the people of minority provinces also voted for Pakistan. His own roots were from Gujrat, India and Karachi.

Re: Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

Muslims league won 425 out of 496 seats for Muslims.

Re: Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

BTW most russians are very religious orthodox christians. and the second biggest religion in russia after christianity is islam........there are almost 25 million muslims in russia.

Re: Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

Spock,

"Thank you Farid, now I hope Haleem understands this..."

Oops I made slight mistake in calculation, the percentage should be around 48%.
of the Hindu population. Sorry for the mistake.

Re: Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

What about the whole of population including other minorities.

Re: Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

Why there are more muslims in india than Pakistan?
If pupose of Pakistan's creation was for Islamic state then why it doesn't have Islamic Shariah in it?

Re: Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

Most arabs aren't brown like pakistanis....anyway.....majority of muslims in pakistan dont make Pakistan Islamic country............its the islamic law that makes it islamic or unislamic.........Pakistan is a secular country with little bit mutilated islamic laws.
Pakistan isn't made for Islam nor for secularism, it is made to separate muslims as it has been proven in 1971.
1947....muslims wanted their separate country. 1971...bengalis wanted their own country. 2007.....Balauch Tribes are fighting for their separate country.

Re: Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

^ chanda, you were saying something about muslim majority in the sub-continent?

Re: Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

read post 151 again.

And Haleem is a male name. It is the first name of Shaykh Ibn Taymiyah.

Re: Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

What Jinnah did for us could not have been done by any Mullah or these so-called religious leaders of today who lack real education and suck big time. So we should n't be so thankless. I am all for moderation rather than secularism or too much religiosity. Whenever and wherever in history people have ruled in the name of Islam or Sharia, there has been chaos, bloodshed and violation of basic human rights because what we get in the end is not real Islam but politicised Islam. Examples being Khomeini's bloody revolution and Talibanisation of Afghanistan

As for Jinnah's secular views, let's not judge him on that not least because religion is a personal matter between him and Allah.

It's an open fact that Allama Iqbal used to drink alcohol but do we ever hear a word against him so why only pick on Jinnah?

I am a practical muslim and if you ask me, what Jinnah did and achieved in his life (creation of a new state, huqooq al ibaad) far outweighs anything that even the late Maulana Modoodi did (wrote Tafseer, great work indeed, huqooq Allah).

Re: Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

Yes this may be true however as i am discussing perceptions here these are marginal facts that still do not change the perception of Russia being communist yet. Maybe in the future when such facts are widespread or an infrastructure in Russia exists to reflect these realities internationally then it might change perceptions as well.

Re: Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

Mullahs= Shaykh Yaqubi, Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, Imam Zaid Shakir, .........Mufti Taqi Usmani and alike. These are all of today's Scholars.
Ever heard of them?

As for Mullahs, let's not judge them because its a personal metter between them and Allah.

Re: Mr. Jinnah's presidential address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan

The majority from Saudi Arabia, Gulf, Iraq, Egypt and Morroco are mild complexioned. Those from Palestine, Turkey, Jordon, Lebanon and Syria are fair complexioned.

Yes I agree that Pakistan is not an Islamic country per say but it is a muslim country by virtue of the majority of its inhabitants. This is what I had stated, it was not created to enforce a theological state but a homeland for muslims apart from hindus in the sub-continent. Sort of like what Palestinians are going through, they want a separate homeland for Palestinians and I doubt that will come along with a theological Palestine.

The problem of Baluch tribes was bound to happen since Pakistan showcases 4-5 distinct cultures and if they are not given equal rights and opportunities such discord was inevitable. Since the inception of Pakistan NWFP and Baluchistan have been sidelined in terms of development compared to Sindh and Punjab.

I don't know if NWFP has much of any resources other than mullahs but Baluchistan has a lot of mineral wealth and there uprising will be quashed one way or the other for the national interests of Pakistan.
