****KARACHI: Scotland Yard on Wednesday arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the murder of Dr Imran Farooq, a former leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
A spokesperson for the Scotland Yard confirmed to The Express Tribune that the suspect was arrested from East London this morning. He is currently being kept in custody where he is being interrogated. The suspect is reportedly a British Pakistani, but Scotland Yard did not confirm the nationality of the suspect.
He is said to be an MQM UK unit member, party officials told The Express Tribune.
The suspect is the second man to be arrested in the case so far. Last June, the Scotland Yard arrested a nephew of MQM chief Altaf Hussain, 52-year-old man Iftikhar Hussain. He was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and is currently on bail.
Further, in May, Scotland Yard released pictures of two suspects allegedly involved in the murder of Farooq.
Scotland Yard claimed that the two suspects, identified as Mohsin Ali Syed and Mohammed Kashif Khan Kamran, were believed to be in Pakistan and had traveled to London on student visas. They are also believed to be residents of Karachi.
Farooq, 50, was a former leader of MQM and had lived in London in self-imposed exile from 1999. He was on his way back from work when he was attacked outside his home in Edgware, north London, in September 2010. A post-mortem gave the cause of death as multiple stab wounds and blunt trauma to the head. A kitchen knife and a house brick used in the attack were recovered at the scene.

jab aap Zardari aor Nawaz corruption ki baaten karte hain to apne leader ke kurtoot bilkul bhool jhaatay hain. He is not only hard core corrupt but also hard core killer. Had he involved in such heinous crimes in some foreign country, he would have been injected lethally to meet his soul mate iblis a long time ago.

I think MQM must be thinking people who call them killers would realize that the way Thug Gullu Shareef and PPP top leadership handles opposition and the way these parties killed 10s of thousand MQM workers in 90s, without allowing anyone to lodge FIR or get justice through courts, the only solution is and was to take up arms as self defence ... something now is apparent that all parties should do, else they would get killed like stray dogs by state machinery (what again happened at model town on 17 June), under the instruction to people from people like Gullu Shareefs in power ... and they would not have any justice. Not even be able to register FIR to police, and even if they manages FIR, than no court would give them justice.
As for Imran Farooqs case, most I ever talked always tell me that his killers should be arrested and punished, whoever the killer maybe. So, if British police has arrested someone, than be it.
Another thing I am heard is that, it is possible that if Thug Gullu brother would get away with murder at Model Town, than their next target would some top PPP leadership, including Zardari and Bilawal, whom their men would kill in Punjab and there would be no FIR.
