Since private channels including Geo tv, ARY Digital and Aaj didn’t focus much on MQM’s stupids rally in Karachi but they did more coverage of Chief Justice’s welcome in Lahore, MQM-Thugs of Altaf Parsaad stopped their transmission in Karachi and other cities of Sindh. Aaj tv’s transmission has been released before 10:00 pm but Geo and ARY are still shut down.
MQM cries that these private channels didn’t do proper coverage of their Paan Masaala Show.
Re: MQM Thugs stop private channels' transmission in Sindh
More lies from you. It's mushy orders to harass the channels becuase of their coverage of the CJ's protests. Nothing to do with MQM rally which got a lot of coverage in national and international news.

Your above lie is based upon ignorance, as another private channel News One reported that an MQM official had protested that their saddists were not given proper coverage by Private TV channels.

What channel is news one? I have never seen it in my life.
Re: MQM Thugs stop private channels' transmission in Sindh
Waysay it is funny how people support MQM or would defend MQM even after what they did in karachi.

KARACHI: In some parts of country including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkar, Mirpur Khas and Nawabshah, Geo News telecast has been blocked.
Some circles claimed that MQM bade the cable operators to shut down the telecast. The cable operators were allegedly asked to keep the telecast closed down until the chief justice rally came to an end.
MQM leader Haider Abbas Rizwi denied the shutting down of telecast by MQM. Meantime, some political leaders including Mian Nawaz Sharif condemned the blockage of the telecast.
In a statement issued by former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, he said that impeding private channels telecast is an attack on the press freedom.
Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chief Imran Khan condemned the blockading of private TV’s telecast in Sindh. ARD and Pakistan Muslim League (N) leaders including Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Pir Sabir Shah, Mehtab Ahmed Khan said the truth cannot be stopped from being seen by shutting down private TV’s transmission.
NWFP Information Minister Asif Iqbal Daudzai condemned the blocking the relaying private TV channels and held it a blow to press freedom.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) Chief Maulana Anas Noorani also termed the impeding of private channels transmission as ‘an attack on press freedom’.

What's really funny is how people can support army after what they did in East Pakistan, Balochistan, and Karachi. So funny, that I can't stop laughing thinking about the millions of victims of pakistani army.
Re: MQM Thugs stop private channels’ transmission in Sindh
A claim made by mullahs and pml(n) is not even worth listening too. We all know what press freedom one will get in their rule.

I am not supporting army at all.
And ya I was in Karachi during that 94-95 massacre. Unfortunately I have witness dead bodies on the roads of Karachi. So I have no sympathies or support for MQM or their jerk leader. That guy didn't even have the guts to show his damn face on TV from London, he would give phone press conferences.
Re: MQM Thugs stop private channels' transmission in Sindh
MQM is scared if the Judiciary is free than their thugary will be no more!
Re: MQM Thugs stop private channels' transmission in Sindh
Instead of supporting or condemning MQM, we should stick to the topic of the thread. And the topic is that it was MQM which stopped the transmission.
How can it be confirmed? Where are the news sources? Is this allegation true?
huh, binAadam?
We should not just accept or deny a theory based on our political views.

**PBA terms blackout of TV channels perilous behaviour **
KARACHI: The Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) has slammed the non-transmission of private TV channels in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Nawab Shah and Mirpur Khas, saying this step to black-out the channels is a perilous behaviour against freedom of press, and other political parties may act the same if it is not condemned widely.
In a press release issued by MQM here Satudary, it is said that MQM’s Legal Aid rally is not covered properly while CJ Iftikhar’s rally, from Islamabad to Lahore, is being transmitted step-to-step, which it says is ‘journalistic dishonesty’. However, MQM believes in promoting the freedom of press. It also claimed that MQM’s rally was ten times larger than CJ Iftikhar’s rally on GT Road.
It also claimed that people themselves took the step to blackout the channels, as it was their reaction towards ‘such channels’ journalistic dishonesty’. However, the PBA has explained that no channel has been partial in reporting events in the country, and it is ready to cover any feedback from all of its stakeholders, especially common people and political parties.
The PBA statement says that MQM’s rally including press conference was also covered, as it is checked in archives, but no one should dictate journalists and broadcasters on such matters, as it depends on their own news sense and personal attitude towards events.
In fact, hundreds of viewers phoned these TV channels and asked about the reason of not letting them watch the events live, it says. Whereas no enquiry is received so far in connection with MQM’s claim of journalists’ dishonesty. However, the association does not agree with MQM’s stance that people themselves took the step to blackout private TVs transmission since neither journalists nor transmission companies nor
anyone else could go against people’s wishes in current political situation in the country, and private TV channels are a reflection of the ground-reality.
It also says the association is surprised over MQM’s stance of people taken action against TV channels, for no such action is witnessed so far whereas the black-out is witnessed in MQM-influenced areas of Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Nawab Shah and Mirpur Khas.
It says that the current government is worried over the steps taken for freedom of media and press, as it used to take steps to promote this industry, which is now growing widely in Pakistan.
It requested the government and political parties to stay calm and keep patient, and send feedback instead of taking such non-democratic action against any channel. It also requested the viewers to send feedback or flip the channel if they do not like its transmission, for it holds a democratic value instead of channels closer, since this way does not affect the rights of viewers and the channel as well.

Apparently the shut down was in MQM influenced areas. They are still investigating. Anyway the service has been resumed now.
**Transmission of private TV channels begin to resume **
KARACHI: Transmission of major private TV channels is resumed in some areas of Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpur Khas and Nawab Shah.
The transmission was stopped Saturday evening by cable operators following MQM’s order, sources said.
In a statement, MQM has rejected the accusation, saying it has nothing to do with non-transmission of private TV channels, whereas the government said it never issued orders to pause private channels’ transmission.
Re: MQM Thugs stop private channels' transmission in Sindh
Well if that is the case, I condemn actions taken by certain MQM members. I hope they will be punished accordingly for breach of party discipline.
Lusi, it is far greater likelihood that those bodies you saw were the work of rangers, police, army and their brethren.
Re: MQM Thugs stop private channels' transmission in Sindh
ohhh....so dats the news...wat else should expect :(
Re: MQM Thugs stop private channels’ transmission in Sindh
Some reports say that Aaj TV was not available in Lahore as well. It is being suggested that it may have been a technical issue.
Still MQM thugs?

KARACHI: Three private television channels Geo TV, ARY and AAJ TV lost their transmissions on Saturday evening. Sources said that the Muttahida Qaumi Movement workers might be responsible although no explanation was available. According to APP, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) chairman, Iftikhar Rashid, denied PEMRA involvement in the termination of transmission in some parts of Sindh. Cable Operators’ Association of Pakistan vice-president Khalid Arain said that the three channels were transmitted through PANAM SAT-7, even though AAJ TV is transmitted via AsiaSat. Sources said AAJ TV was also blocked in Lahore Cantt. “There are some technical issues with the satellite, so places where the ‘footprints’ are weak are not receiving any transmission,” Arain said. Adeel Zahid, a telecom engineer said, “A satellite fault can block certain transmissions. However, two channels being transmitted through the same satellite must be off air at the same time.” In this case, Geo Sports is still on air, while Geo News is not.
Re: MQM Thugs stop private channels' transmission in Sindh
Must be those famed MQM boys of Lahore Cantt in action again.

No ranger, army, police, mullahs, etc had nothing to do with it. It was the time when MQM was slaughtering people like butchers slaughter animals at the butcher house.
Sorry but that is the sad reality.
Re: MQM Thugs stop private channels' transmission in Sindh
Lusi jee, you're dealing with paid MQM jiyalaz here! lol

This is the "reality" that you have made up. Next you're going to tell me that you saw people saying jeay altaf with drills in their hands and dumping bodies in front of your eyes?
Yes, there was killing, but from MQM side it was mostly retaliation for the disappearances, torture and death bought upon them by the government. You don't know how mohajirs were treated like subhumans during that time by the authorities. They indeed did fight back to protect their homes and families. Anyone would do the same.
