Let me guess, that kangri pahelwaan Farooq 'Chota Bhai Sattar' would now show up on TV and refer to BBC as being a militant organization or supporting one like he did last time?
In my opinion, the biggest reason why we have never been able to make a comeback with strong democratic institutions after the Zia era was the MQM. Every single little stint of democracy followed by Zia in the late 80s and throughout the 90s was marked with trouble with the MQM turning a major city of the country into a hostage.

You know MQM leader and supporters have absolutely no answer why their leader bypassed Pakistan to go to India and call your country the 'biggest blunder in the history of mankind'? If you call a country a blunder and a mistake, then it obviously means you want to undo that mistake. And somehow Indians would leave such traitors alone and not take advantage of them? I am not shocked at all about this.
The party who in one sentence paints its own Army and Punjabis as enemies and ask Indians for help can never be sincere to the country. Let's not forget that MQM was also protected by British agencies, and British Home Office is probably pissed off with them for tax evasion, abusing immigration laws, contributing to local crime rate etc
If MQM's RAW gets formally established, and it would just expose the severe extent of India involvement in Pakistan. I think Establishment needs to take every inch of blame for allowing such snakes to hide in their sleeves, and bite you from there yet doing nothing about it. Hopefully some heads would roll now.
The onus is on MQM to prove BBC documentary wrong. Take them to court and file a defamation case against BBC. If they have nothing to hide, this is a golden opportunity to earn millions of ounds legally without any mass murdering of innocent people.

There was a time I used to get warnings for bashing the MQM on GS! I was told it's a mainstream democratic party working in Pakistan's interests and I should learn to realize it's a political reality!

There was a time I used to get warnings for bashing the MQM on GS! I was told it's a mainstream democratic party working in Pakistan's interests and I should learn to realize it's a political reality!
The worst was when people used to call it a 'secular' party because it used to 'condemn' the Taliban. Now their workers have confessed to carrying out grenade attacks on religious rallies and killing Shia-Sunnis in turns to rationalise Altaf bhai's 'Talibanisation of Karachi' theory.
Good thing that TV channels have stopped showing his speeches live. His speeches contain nothing but same old hatred for Pakistan Army and Punjabis. Just yesterday, he said give his supporters 50,000 arms and Rangers 50,000 arms, and then see the 'muqabala'.
This is is the face of so called middle class, educated and urban party.

Very serious allegations. Pk govt must take all steps to investigate and take corrective measures accordingly so as no party or person do take monetary funding and use against pakistan.
the shud not be limited to one party only but continue to madrasah and other personalities which r part of establishment and bureaucracy.

one of my karachi friend used to say ... our establishment and MQM are actually buddy buddy from inside as they need each other. whenever MQM is in serious trouble and start losing sympathies among its mainstream voter-base, our establishment upon MQM request will help it by circulating a " serious treacherous scandal" against it with no serious back up as it will help MQM regain its footsteps among its lover base.

All political leaders including your beloved zardari have said similar things in the past about MQM. He used to send Rehman Malik all the time to AH and whenever he was in London he used to go and lick AH’s feet himself. Baat karnay say pehlay zara ainay mein dekh liya karein.

Those documents ... which are made public ... they are selective ...lot of the REAL content has been censored ... under the black marker ... and also is incomplete ...just 4 pages....
..so to me its probably a message ..
I ahve been saying this for years..... MQM is being dismantled ... but slowly and carefully ... to cause minimum collateral damaage ... and may take a year or two more...
NA 246 was a TEST to gauge the effectiveness of their strategy ... and I think they would have learned a lesson or two... from it..

My legal two cents:
All these demands of Pakistani authorities to investigate and provide proof are largely baseless and rhetorical! Reason being:
The only four people accused of receiving Indian funds are British citizens. Europe - British accounts and premisses were used to establish Indian support. The money as per the confession were largely spent on bearing expenses of MQM UK secretariat (and facilitating criminals and MQM workers settle overseas). All this is beyond Pakistan's jurisdiction. I hope people would get this simple fact.
Therefore, since the crime was committed in Britain, the onus is on Met police to track and recover that money and establish the link, not Pakistani courts. But for those still seeking 'proof'. Bear in mind, it is the Met police who found large sum of money from Altaf Hussain's house. Now they have confession to support the evidence - or proof as some like to call it.
This whole thing is part of follow up money laundering investigation by Met police, and British authorities decided to notify Pakistan about the Indian link.

I really hate the establishment on this. They arrested all these people in karachi and now almost all of the accused have been released. You can't blame the courts as weren't military courts / rangers used this time?
As i said, pakistan must really like getting reamed in the ass as all sorts of bla, bra, sla, ttp, uzbek, chechen, hazara, mqm etc can **** around in the country and we are all left with conspiracy theories.
Now, I do appreciate Musharraf's accomplishments like opening up of media and LG system, but he is also culpable for 'forgiving' bhutto / zardaris who are the biggest crooks when it comes to money laundering and assets. Altaf hussain isn't even a peanut compared to the billions stashed away by these feudal lords.

Almost all of the accused had be released? Where? When? This is news to me. If anything, they'd had extended remand of all senior workers of MQM. They did arrest over 200 over people, so maybe they are just letting ordinary innocent workers go. As we speak 6 member Scotland Yard team is interviewing the three MQM workers for Imran Farooq murder.
Musharraf had also forgiven hundreds, if not thousands of cases of MQM. Let's keep that in mind too. Zardari and Bhutto looted billions, so Altaf Hussain's reign of terror that had killed thousands of Pakistanis, destabilised Pakistan's economic capital, extortion and land grabbing is 'peanuts'? He got £800k from India to spread what agenda in Pakistan? Don't call him a peanut...he's just as traitorous as Bhutto and Zardari you like to compare him to.

All those Pakistanis who are hoping that somehow they will be a YouTube video of Altaf Hussain receiving money from a man who has RAW written in forehead in Prague, as saboot or proof - just let it go. Get over it.
Money laundering is a British investigation, and all Pakistan needs to do is to ask Britain to confirm the external source of the money MQM had received, and that should be sufficient enough to take action against MQM.
I don't why people call is a conspiracy theory - two of the MQM founding members went up to Met and confessed Indian funding. Why would Met purposely drag India's name in investigation?
It's probably just a Pakistani thing to take the piss out of confession and witness testimonies, but in Britain and most legal systems, it hold potent legal and prosecution value. And no, Britain does not apply torture techniques in non terrorism cases nor Tariq Mir or Anwar Ali were in police custody for more than few hours.
So honestly, not everything has to be a conspiracy against MQM by establishment and the whole universe they control.
