I am not a supporter or sympathiser of MQM, but in the final analysis it is a legitimate political party which takes part in the democratic set up, unlike the Talib animals, thugs and murderers. When people of Karachi and Sindh get fed up of them they will throw them out. Taliban comes through the barrel of gun and kill innocent people and enforce their barbaric and stone age systems by force. One thing here people of Swat DID NOT ask for sharia. In the last elections they overwhelmingly voted for ANP which is a secular party. Why? Because they are sick and tired of these so called thakedars of islam. There is nothing Islamic about Taliban, they are a bunch of murderers and that is it. The quicker we get rid of them the better.

Croquet, lets not make this an MQM thread. The issue is that a group of people have attacked a Christian settlement in Karachi and they are associating themselves with terror-minded groups, and are possibly just another Taliban chapter opening up in another city.
You might have issues with MQM, and I may have issues with them, but at this point, even if a nanga schizophrenic maniac bleeding out of his behind was standing on the street and telling me, look "there go the Taliban", I would not ignore him so lightly at this point.
The MQM have been caught vote rigging numerous times on camera. In a free and fair election who knows how many ofthe votes they will really get. You also forget that many people are forced to vote MQM and fund them, if not they are in serious trouble.
As for the PPP - we really dot know how many people are forced into voting for them. Thousands vote for PPP quite simply because they aretold tob their landlords.
In Swat people did vote ANP/PPP but then the majority do not vote. There is no real way f knowing what the people of Swat want. The Tliban have never sttood for elections there.

The army has changed after musharraf purged many of the jihadist generals. There are still issues, but at least it's no longer committing genocide.

completely agree, on both the MQM question and the Swat question.
If the Taleban became a political entity rather than a military one, and tried to get their agenda through civic/political means, there would be no harm in supporting them.
As it stands, they are actively fighting Pakistani state forces and attempting to expand control through the use of force in different parts of Pakistan. There is no comparison of that with MQM, atleast the establishment party that MQM represents today.

And let be assure my Pashtun brothers that we are with them in this senstive times where mqm has started targetted killing of Pashtun minority in Karachi.
