and that is what I am trying to explain here. For Karachites it’s different as it was never a PPP or PML city, BUT in 1993 they elected them. Back then it was their responsibility to cash that golden opportunity, or atleast try to win Karachi back. NOW Karachites don’t trust them for the very same reason, that in past they gave them a chance and given the 1st opportunity they shared bed with MQM. 
The only thing Karachi witnessed back then was a police state, and encounters (Not of REAL MQM gangsters, but of those who refused to pay batha to new OWNERS) It was like “agai kunwan peechai khaaye” MQM(H) gundhai were killing for bhatta, and police was doing encounters for being suspected MQM(Altaf) worker
PS: 2: who is talking about other elections and turnout at gunpoint and bhataKhori there! lets focus on 1993 when there was no MQM pointing guns at Karachites and forcing them to cast votes in their favor, then why turn out was well bellow national average in THAT particular elections! MQM (H) was in bed with “ESTABLISHMENT” back then, and had all the fire power (being the real millitant wing of MQM in pre 1992 era); yet they also failed to mobolise people, EVEN at gunpoint!
