^ I agree, MQMs charter in the beginning was genuine and just as well. The quota system is one of the banes Karachiites had faced. Many institutions enforced it like IIEE on university rd had a quota system though it was such a good institute but not all Karachiites got into it.
MQM now is nothing but a bunch of goons. They have long overlived their usefulness and someone needs to crush them. MQM was formed as a political tool by Zia to counter Sindhi (PPP at the time) influence in Karachi and hyderabad and use the prejudice as key to fan the flames. It was a real issue but married with the political scenario of why MQM came into existence ultimately inflated them with power hunger and we all know how it is now. Karachi's youth is destroyed now and lawlessness is so rampant it is unimaginable for a civil society.
There is definitely money in Karachi for many people but there is no security. MQM controls areas like a beggar does his vicinity. Its like this is my ilaqa so I do whatever I want with it. Like a beggar does not want another beggar to come and beg in his territory similarly MQM units do not want other parties to come an rob in their territories, let them do their own people.
