Geo was showing MQM (rabita committee?) giving govt 48 hours ultimatum to take notice of “anti-Sindh” slogans in the rallies while Asma Jahangir has denied any such slogans.
I can’t find link on Dawn website yet.
Does anyone know if such slogans were infact used? Is there any authenticity to this claim?
No slogans against Sindh in long march: Asma Jehangri
Updated at: 2330 PST, Sunday, March 15, 2009
KARACHI: Chairperson Human Rights Commission of Pakistan Asma Jehangir has said that no slogans were raised against Sindh province in the long march in Lahore.
Talking to Geo News, she said the government will have to restore the judges in any case.
Asma Jehangir said the politicians can now see to which direction the people are moving.
“Now the people will be satisfied only when the judges are restored,” she observed.
The allegation was made by Babar Ghouri (member of MQM), who said he heard it on Television, and it serves as proof. The proof of such has yet to be seen. Those participating in the march deny such allegations that no such slogans were raised. It was a Pakistani movement, and people from all parts of the nation came to take part in it despite the difficulties placed before them, notably in Sindh and Punjab by blocking roads using shipping containers.
The public defied the obstacles and succeeded in making their way to the twin cities, while masses were still on the way. The stand of public, Lawyers, and many prominent participants forced the Govt. to change its stance and promptly bow to the wishes of the public and honors its mandate.
The allegations are false until proven, and only serve to divide the public at a time when the public looks united and cheerful in the wake of PM’s order of restoration of Chief Justice.
MQM is ever-blackmailing organisation which is always in government. They made coalition with PPP and previously was in government with PML Qatil :D
They always try and increase ethnic hatred in the country. They have even started calling all the pathans in Karachi as 'Talibans'.
The slogans were against the promise breaking by the president and not about his being sindhi. At one time they were against 'sindhi' oppression of muhajirs and now they are claiming that they are custodians of sanctity of 'sindhi president'.
It is sad that they go so deep into racism filth just to score political points.
Well we can expect another drama from this kala kawa as he did in the past.
He will make address to his slaves and say that he would be resigning. Then his slaves will sit at ground zero and do fateh khaani while crying. Kawa will then take his resignation back. That way the issue will be solved.
I am not sure if there were actually slogans against Sind by the protesters... but any one can use this stage as to diver the attention....
this is common in rallies that ppl from other parties with different motives become part of it and then starts chanting totally different slogans..... so that the media capture it and the image of the rally/protest is disturbed/manuplated.
Wrong, establishment uses the same tactics - destroying people's homes and giving them collective punishment, search and seizure raids etc. - as the Israeli's do.
[note]Do not generalize on provinces, feel free to use names of political parties instead[/note]
I wish if any force can get rid of the terrorism embedded within MQM. Mosad Qaumi Movement wherever it is, be it Punjab, Sindh or anywhere. Terrorism is a disease and it's very obvious by a common Pakistani what party exercise it within Pakistan.
Wrong, establishment uses the same tactics - destroying people's homes and giving them collective punishment, search and seizure raids etc. - as the Israeli's do.
MQM is probably establishment's biggest mistake???
