Re: MQM demands Karachi to be handed over to the Army
non-MQM folks ... well, there are few in Karachi ... and fact is that, no killing was happening.
As for May 12 you mentioned ... that date itself shows that situation was pretty good because if it was bleak you would not have a date to mention as all dates would have been 'may 12' ... and in 8.5 years of Musharraf rule ... or 18500 days, if you can remember and mention one date (12 May) then you should be proud that situation was so good that you could mention a date.
When the murderers are in charge, of course there will be less murders...

In last 5 years of PPP rule one cannot mention any date because all dates are as bad as others and can compete with each other ... hence no particular day or date one can mention. :)
Though I am not a fan of MQM or Musharraf but your argument above is strong.
Re: MQM demands Karachi to be handed over to the Army
I am absolutely no fan of MQM but I like good cooked halim and nihari by container stealer, full of arms and brothel runner of MQM. When does in Pakistan one can afford a “palatial house” by selling halim, nihari and running of a brothel?
For Salim Bhai, yeh MQM waalay kab se test… of so called thug NS ke uthanay shroo kar diaay? App is par kuch apni roshni farmaingay? Please keep it brief not 200 pages to justify this unholy alliance. Thanks.
KARACHI: Senator Babar Ghori of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement sent lunch for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday, including some high-calorie dishes, before the premier chaired an important meeting of the federal cabinet at the Governor House.
“Yes I sent him nihari, haleem and other dishes for lunch,” said Mr Ghori, who is known for having invited top politicians, including former prime ministers Shaukat Aziz and Yousuf Raza Gilani, to his palatial house for haleem parties.
He said Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had thanked him.
On Tuesday, the MQM had criticised the government for cancelling an invitation to Dr Farooq Sattar to attend the cabinet meeting.
Re: MQM demands Karachi to be handed over to the Army
When MQM was asking the city to be handed over to the army, I had the hunch that if an across the board operation is carried out MQM would be affected as well. In that case MQM will make a lot of noise and try to use this as a proof them being a victim in front of the Western audience (to counter the pressure Altaf Hussain is facing due to his recent antics).
Re: MQM demands Karachi to be handed over to the Army
chor se kahay chori kar shah se kahay tera ghar lutaa… but in this case “shah” khud MQM hi hay (or may be there is a better muhawara), apnay shehr mai operation karwa ke “haay mai lut gayee, barbaad ho gayee” :hehe:
Re: MQM demands Karachi to be handed over to the Army
I think the operation is ok at this moment. Many of MQM supporters have been arrested but MQM also did not make hue and cry. The only reason it got upset now is because this MP was arrested obviously for political reasons. There are some who want to teach MQM a lesson instead of saving the city. Their thinking is that if anything goes wrong in an area then they will arrest the MQM sector incharge of that area. They arrested MQM MP based on this ludicrous thinking. And MQM is obviously not going to like it.
But I hope the saner heads prevail. I hope the operation remains indiscriminate instead of targeting just one political party. I hope their aim remains to save the city instead of conquering it.
While the operation is being conducted there were 4 or 5 people who got killed. So all is not well yet. For example, Sohrab Goth, the center of Taliban terrorists, is still untouched. No operation can be called indiscriminate unless it involves areas like Sohrab Goth, Quarry Colony, Pashtunabad, etc.
And what was that raid on Uzair Baloch's house about? He has already left the country. Looks like it was done only to make a political statement.
