The recent appointment of the two PPP backed officers to the top position has led to unprecedented opposition from MQM. Even they went out of the power sharing talks with the PPP led government and instead opted to sit in opposition. This is an extreme step keeping in mind that the only reason they gave was the appointment of Shoaib Suddle and Tariq Lodhi. Now we all know that these two were the officers, who helped Gen. Naseerullah Babar in cleaning the Karachi out of the menace of MQM in 1995.
After the removal of Benazir government, the MQM again resumed its activities and their activities have reached to new heights in the past one decade. They are mostly involved in the street crimes and collect ransom from all businesses and individuals in Karachi and these illegal activities are their main source of finances and to spread the terror.
Now that their life line is threatened again by the presence of Shoaib Suddle and Tariq Lodhi, they took the extreme steps of backing out of the negotiations and instead opted to sit in opposition. **I think if Zardari help the people in getting rid of these criminals in Karachi, history will remember him in golden words, the way Gen. Naseer Ullah Babar is still remembered as the Hero of Karachi.

Re: MQM and Karachi - Shoaib Suddle and Tariq Lodhi
Recent killings of Inetelligence Beureu's officer in Karachi are an indication that Operation is about to start. New generation of MQM's goons are not only a permenant threat to the city but are dangerous for MQM itself. Some groups are operating independently outside the criminal fund raising operation of the party. This is exactly what was happening in early 90s. When a party is based on things like that and the number of small dons and goons increase, it can't handle them. Altaf needs more tragedies to keep MQM alive in another decade.
Re: MQM and Karachi - Shoaib Suddle and Tariq Lodhi
Yr gen Nasir Ullah Baber was a lame duck ... Tho Lucky enough to not found in a sack...
Many Innocent people were killed during his time ... For heaven sake ... Stop making a Hero outta of that square.....
They will never learn from history and never admit their wrong doing. This is not a political party its a mafia and i think, terrorist activities will definitely increase when they sit in opposition. bcz they do every thing to desbabalise the gov't and whatever stupid and lame excuses they have they will make to justift their acts against the lawyer community, bcz they are the one feelling threatened from the judiciary bcz they know what they did on May12 and againt on April. Their base is uneducated teen who wants to hold pistols and like hooligasim.
Re: MQM and Karachi - Shoaib Suddle and Tariq Lodhi
I only hope that Suddle and Lodhi don't go after political criminals only but all (including petty) criminals as well as mobile snatchers. In Karachi criminals are not scared to kill another person in case he refuses to handover an asset demanded in daylight in a public place.

ANYONE can do that. Suddle has been especially brought by PPP to rein in MQM.
Just look at the responses of mohajir-hating guppies here. They are delighted by Suddle's nomination. They are not worried about criminals, but about MQM.
Re: MQM and Karachi - Shoaib Suddle and Tariq Lodhi
Not a productive move by PPP. Pakistan needs stability and peace, all democratic parties working in a co-operative manner. Democracy needs to prevail in a sophisticated manner, with the welfare of Pakistan as the foremost objective.
Speaking of eliminating criminals, all major political parties are headed by criminals, where do you start and where do you end.

Justice Wajihuddin has expressed his reservations against the appointment of Mr. Suddle as he was incharge of Karachi Police when Murtuza Bhutto was killed.

KARACHI: Wajih criticises posting of Suddle as IG
By Our Staff Reporter
KARACHI, April 14: The former chief justice of the Sindh High Court, Justice Wajihuddin Ahmed, has expressed his reservations over the appointment of Dr Shoaib Suddle as the inspector-general of the Sindh police.
He pointed out that Dr Suddle was DIG Karachi when Mir Murtaza Bhutto was assassinated in a police shootout in 1996 and the incident took place near the residence of Dr Suddle.
The former chief justice was talking to the media on Monday after visiting Tahir Plaza where lawyers’ officers were located and was set ablaze by unknown attackers on April 9 killing at least six persons.
Justice Wajih was of the view that the attorney-general of Pakistan, Malik Qayyum, should step down since he was not eligible for this position. He, however, recommended the former advocate-general Sindh, Anwar Mansoor Khan, for the position terming him an ideal candidate for this prestigious post.
Juctice Wajih urged the lawyers and the members of civil society to make contributions to the legal relief fund. He said that the victims of the April 9 violence would be duly compensated and asked the management of the Karachi bar to provide details of the losses incurred on that fateful day.
Condemning the violence against the legal fraternity, he said that it was all pre-planned and an attempt to sabotage their ongoing movement for an independent judiciary.
Re: MQM and Karachi - Shoaib Suddle and Tariq Lodhi
MQM or any other political group/party have right to disagree/protest but same should not be done in the way MQM have set. MQM can have political movement to which ever ethinic/social/religious group they want, but killing others and one who disagree with their idealogy is un-forgiveable, Although this does not give a license to kill them, but after what is going on, all such movements should be dealt with iron-fist.
The govt. have to make sure that while doing so, innocents does get effected, and should be more focused to eliminate the elements nuturing such movements/people.

these petty criminals also draw their strength from the political criminals. There is a need to flush out not just the criminals but also the "aslaha/ small arms" that has been dumped in Karachi in the past few years. One also needs to find out whether our mosques are merely used for worship and socialization or are they being used as criminal hideouts and godowns for the arms.
Re: MQM and Karachi - Shoaib Suddle and Tariq Lodhi
Are you kidding me?? Were you in Karachi at the time this so called clean up operation was going on??? I was there and all police was doing was picking up boys from each home ages 14 to 30 and then black mailing their parents to get 5-10-15-20 lakhs to release them. That was by far the worst time of life in karachi.
Re: MQM and Karachi - Shoaib Suddle and Tariq Lodhi
Both these guys are anti-MQM! Actually Tariq Lodhi, if I remember correctly, was one of the key players in the operations against MQM in Karachi several years ago.
I really hope we dont have a similar operation again! It will harm the common people of Karachi than anyone else. If MQM is to be wiped off, then it must be done politically and through changing public opinion, not through the use of force.

I agree. Well said....Police whenever they are given a chance will exploit the common people and they have suffered enough.

A party like MQM cannot be tolerated in any civil and just society. It is a violent, facist, ethnocentric party that would create an ethnic based genocide in Karachi given the chance.
