As we are ushering in to a new era of democracy, there is a need for massive industrialisation in the country to give a much required boost to the economy and create employment on a large scale to eliminate frustration among our unemployed youth and to reducing poverty. To achieve this goal what is required is to provide hassle-free and healthy business environment to both local as well as foreign investors. The establishment of National Industrial Parks (NIP) as a subsidiary of PIDC under the ministry of industries, which has been initiated keeping in view the modern trends of industrialisation in other developed countries of South-East Asia, can safely be termed as a light at the end of the tunnel. On the other hand the appointment of its first chief executive from the private sector instead of bureaucracy is also seen as a good omen by the potential investors.

M/S Jurong, Singapore, renowned internationally for their expertise and wide experience in this field has developed the design concept and Master Plan of this Industrial Park, whereas M/S NESPAK will be responsible for subsequent architectural design, engineering services and supervision of this project. The common features to be provided in this park to the businessmen include industry clusters with basic business themes, one-window operation for all infrastructure facilities, basic utilities such as gas, water and electricity, and facilities like warehouses, commercial complex, cafeteria, medical care units, technical and vocational programmes for specific industries, for all stakeholders of the park.

NIP is based on the most modern concept of industrialisation now in vogue in the developed countries of the world, has been launched as public-private partnership to develop focused industrial growth by developing world class industrial parks in the country. The objectives include supporting rapid industrialisation in the country by establishing new industrial-parks and rehabilitate those that might be handed over by the government or provincial governments , taking necessary steps in attracting industrialists for setting up their business in these NIPs, promoting interaction between the industrialists and the government so as to create an overall conducive industrial environment, providing a platform and act as a catalyst for industries to increase productivity and promoting the creation of jobs in all the provinces of the country.

During a short span of only two years, the first project has been launched on an area of 40 acres at Korangi Creek. Administrative facilities to support one-window service to customers are expected to be developed within 12 months following basic infrastructure development. Moreover, the basic infrastructure development and the provisioning of utilities will take about 18 months, whereas specialised facilities such as the setting up of a 48mw power plant will take a further 36 months period.

The second project, being set up by NIP is on a 930 acre land at Pakistan Steel Downstream Industrial Estate land in Karachi, while the third project, the Auto Cluster Industrial Park, has been planned at Shiekhupura Road in Lahore, which is already off the ground. The Park spread over an area of over 170 acres is based on the age-old cliché ‘small is beautiful’, which entails setting up of clusters, focused on specific industries. In this project auto vendors will be provided manufacturing, assembling and warehousing facilities. The Park would be accessible from the Lahore-Shiekhupura Motorway Interchange and from the city centre will ensure timely deliveries to Originating Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the vicinity, enabling auto manufacturers to increase their production and add revenue generation to the entire supply chain. The Company offers plot sizes ranging from 4 to 16 kanals to the potential entrepreneur along with all essential amenities such as road, drainage & sewerage, power, gas and water supply besides providing training facilities to enhance the skills of manpower in the auto sector.

The Company is also been planning to develop ‘mini industrial parks’ at District and Tehsil levels, keeping in view the capacity and skill level of that area to provide them a platform to join hands and sort out their problems. This would be a cluster based approach which had been successfully implemented in India, China and Thailand. NIP was considering developing such mini industrial parks throughout Pakistan in places like, Matta Mughul Khail, Shab Qadar, Chiniot, Ghakkar, Bannu and Muzaffarabad.

The establishment of NIP will help channelising development to the rural areas to reduce the regional imbalances, attract foreign investment, FDI, into the country, and upgrade the standard of living, besides serving as the catalyst for economic development.

once again excellent news, thanks to musharraf we are seeing huge amounts of jobs being made and a phase of industrialization

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

all the article does is talk about upcoming or underway projects... achul tu aap is tarha rahain hain khushi sey jaisey sab kuch complete ho gya ho...

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

yes these projects are under construction, it shows the gov. has a vision of industrializing pakistan and not like bb or ns who couldnt even think out of the box.
at the same time you cant deny that theres been a massive industrial boom, SIE, M1, M2 are allready complete and functioning as well as many other industrial estates

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

lol challo! ab motorway ka credit bhi musharraf ko mil raha hai! :hehe:
Lets forget Quaid-e-azam and declare Musharraf as the founder of Pakistan while we’re at it!

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

Thats BS... They said the same thing about Pakistan back in the 60's under the Ayub govt...
No one believes Pakistan is moving towards industrialization.. Most experts feels there are deep structural problems in the Pak economy.. Exports are down, Textile, and agriculture are practically stagnant... All the main industries are struggling.
And without trained manpower, who is going to work in these industrial units?!?!

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

If not motorway, at least give the credit to Mush for keep continuing the work on those projects. In “democratic” days new govts always used to scrap the projects of previous (dushman) govts no matter if the projects were in the interest of public or not !

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

LOL.. They were claiming the new Motorways as a feather in Mushies cap… How quickly they forget that it was Nawaz Sharif who built the very first motorway, yet they never give him any credit!!! :hehe:

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

M2, the country's largest road project to date was already complete, and functioning long before Musharraf stepped in.

Forget Iqbal, Musharraf was the one who had a dream about an independent Pakistan!

p.s. I do appreciate the initial cabinet of technocrats Musharraf had when he first came, but most of them left, and do not support Musharraf anyomre, so he started relying on the help of crooks like the lota league to carry on.

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

Mashallah. God Bless the Unprecdented Growth Pakistan has seen under the great leadership of President Musharaf. :k:

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

Shaukat Aziz had some potential, but he proved to bigger lota then most other lotas...
At least first PM, Jamali had no delusion of his own stature... Shaukat was a lap do extordinaire!

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

Growth where?

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

dude what is wrong with you, im talking about the m1, m2 and m3 industrial estates not motorways,
i must laught at your ignorance here :hehe::hehe:

atleast give him credit for that, and no one called him the founder of pakistan, so again dnt make thing ups

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

indeed, God Bless the Unprecdented Growth Pakistan,

we are in a phase in massive development and economy is booming like never before

MUSHARRAF ZINDABAD, PAKISTAN PAINDABAD.

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

If making road is all it takes to define a “leader” then add Nawaz Sharif to you list as he was the one created the M2 project and say it to the end.

Industrial estates etc wouldnt exist if it werent for 9/11 and sudden space given to the Pak economy to expand.. A luxury not enjoyed by the previous govts.

So Mush continued building road.. Big deal, it doesnt take much political initiative to order roads to be built.. Its doesnt require any real input.

If Musharaf had imporved health care or education, then we could talk.

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

Pakistan wont Paindabad if Musharaf is allowed to continue... Have some respect for your country.

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

and healthcare and education hasnt improved :frowning: really shows your ignorance but then what does an antipak like you know.

and 9/11 was a luxary:hehe:, which planet do you live on,
what does 9/11 have to do with industrial estates now :hehe:

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

and had there been no 9/11 incident

  • There would have been no suicide attacks in Pakistan
  • There would have been no "missing people" in Pakistan ....
  • People would have been living peacefully and HAPPILY and Mush would have been enjoying approval rating of 70-80 as he was doing before 911 (including that of Imm Bhai) ...

How about that ?

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

yep and there would have been even a bigger economy boom.

FDI would not have increased by 1600% but by more then 10000%.

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

Sounds good to me...
Mush would have probably been gone a long time ago as no one, particularly not the international community would have supported him...
With or without 9/11 he would have been the same incompetant dictator and it would have been much easier to rid the country of his incompetance...

How about that!?!

Re: Moving towards industrialisation and job creation

Growth has occured under the other dictators of Pakistan aswell.. And yet its still a developing country.. Read some history for god sake...
Sharam Karo you dictator supporting Pakistan haters...
