Moving to UAE...

Re: Moving to UAE...

Thank you shimmerV for taking time to helping me out. Really appreciate it!.

Also..this is very new to me in Dubai. I grew up in Saudia Arabia..until the age of 14. Been in Canada ever since. Didn't go to Pak since then. So i have middle eastern exposure you can say that. I Alhamdulli'lah know people too over there. So average rent for single bedroom is 4 to 5k? I would say not bad...coz my main concern was affordability. And also, i am bit social so i like meeting new people and hang out. Like i said, i am in planning phase still..as this would be huge step for me.

Re: Moving to UAE...

Been in Dubai from the past 11 years and it has been best of my life. Got good international standard education, got the opportunity to network and know people from multitudes of backgrounds; global village, different cultures. Got the opportunity to do a Chef course from one of the top ten schools of culinary and yes, it is in Dubai! Got the opportunity to open my business, my restaurant and I am on my way to opening my second branch! Dubai has been alhum amazing for my family and I! Love it here. I love the heat. The traffic. The hustle bustle of the city. The nightlife. The malls etc. You go out driving at 1 AM on the roads and it doesn't even feel like it is any more than 9 PM. Cars on the road, vibrant lighting etc. Plus the food life is great in Dubai and it is all halal! A great mix of modern and the religious East. A great place to be. It has its heritage and cultural spots, plus all the modern things.

Re: Moving to UAE...

In International City, one bedroom will cost you like 52,000 a year. That's around 4,333 AED a month. Similar rent for Discovery Gardens, The Gardens etc. JLT, JBR etc are roughly double that for around 112,000 a year. Can find for a bit less or more. Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina are obviously more expensive when it comes to one bedrooms and more.

One bedroom(tentative)

International City: 60,000
Dubai Marina: 170,000
Dubai Sports City: 75,000
Business Bay: 105,000
Greens: 100,000
Downtown Dubai: 200,000
Palm Jumeirah: 130,000
Motor City: 75,000
The Views: 120,000
Jumeirah Beach Residence: 110,000
Dubai Investment Park: 70,000
Jumeirah Village Circle: 75,000
Discovery Gardens: 80,000
Dubai International Financial Centre (area): 130,000
Jumeirah Lakes Towers: 85,000

These are all some of the popular areas in New Dubai for apartments, these days. Of course, if you wanna look at villas, they are more expensive and lot more areas. A normal basic 3 bedroom villa will cost around 240,000 to rent in new Dubai side. Freehold areas. The upmarket posh ones. If you're looking at normal areas like Mirdif etc, it might be less than that. Might be same. Depends on villa and owner.

Re: Moving to UAE...

UAE sounds better than Saudia, with its better high rise buidlings! I like Sharjah personally!

Re: Moving to UAE...

I don't. Sharjah is crowded, claustrophobic, suffering from electricity losses and the traffic is horrendous!! Dubai has traffic, but the way people drive in Sharjah, nothing compares to that. Also the shopping etc is limited.

Re: Moving to UAE...

Another important aspect to look for before finalyzing the residence is the parking situation in the area, i have personaly suffered a lot for a year due to parking problem before moving into my current location.

Re: Moving to UAE...

Parking, sewage, infestation so many things to consider as many new communities have a reputation for issues like these.

Re: Moving to UAE...

lol, what? I've lived in Sharjah since i was born. It's waaayy less claustrophobic than Dubai is (we're not counting Rolla square here). I have experienced electricity loss TWICE in my 23 years of living here and both were not due to power shortage but because something blew up in the main line. The only traffic i have ever experienced is the rush hours that are there in Dubai is well. There is now construction almost every other day in Dubai so anybody new would have a terrible time remember directions. Shopping, i might agree, but then again Dubai is not that far for shopping. I wouldn't want to move to Dubai...Sharjah is where it's at ;)

Re: Moving to UAE...

Sharjah got nothing on Dubai. It's a boring place with traffic. Dubai is happening and love it. Sorry. Been here quite a long time to know the difference.

Re: Moving to UAE...

Omg no, don't diss Sharjah. It's the best, way better than Dubai imo. I've been here 21 years. Sharjah people drive fine it's the Dubai traffic that seriously sucks :@

Re: Moving to UAE...

Sharjah is awesome, there is Qanat al Qasba, and the Waterfront, the Sharjah Smile roundabout, to name a few.

Re: Moving to UAE...

The waterfront has grown on me..especially now that they have London Fish & chips..i'm a sucker for a good load of shrimps. lol Sharjah is on the nice, quite side, where you'd like to chill with the family at the end of the day :)

Re: Moving to UAE...

I haven't gone to the Waterfront in so long, it's been ages due to being busy with uni, but Tim Hortons is yum over there. Yeah, you are perfectly right

Re: Moving to UAE...

Tim Hortons, Dunkin Donuts...this is my life. lol. Ooh uni.. awesome.. i got done with mine two years ago..best of luck with it :)

Re: Moving to UAE...

Hahaha, samee and also add Krispy Kreme which is just across the road, lol. Thankyouu! I'm almost done with it, half a year to go, iA

Re: Moving to UAE…

for those who were born in UAE, what nationality do you hold? that of your mom/dad? how does it work? also, what is the best way of looking for jobs in the area for US nationals? what advantage do you have with a US passport? can US passport holders own business or buy property? can they work government jobs?

Re: Moving to UAE…

^Good Questions..and i think UAE national can answer these questions much better. As far as i understand, they don’t give nationality to foreigners. But i can tell you…depending on the type of job, Canadian/US/UK nationality definately has some benefits…

Re: Moving to UAE…

Was happy to hear..there is Tim Horton’s there!..will miss home!

Re: Moving to UAE…

You’ll find everything here from pretty much all around the world. I’m told it tastes the same too  When will u be moving?
