Moving to London

My cousin is moving to London from Pakistan. I receive this SMS from him, if anyone have any information regarding it, please share. Thanks in advance:

Re: Moving to London

He wants to live in a desi area?

I reckon Walthamstow would be best. Lots of Pakistanis. Ealing is full of brown people too, but mostly Indian.

No i mean is it safe for desi's to live their. I am from NY and we have some area's here where Desi's/Asian/White don't feel comfortable.

If you have detail information regarding the areas in mention in first post, it will be very helpful !

Re: Moving to London

Yes. London is a safe place, he can live anywhere he wants. Romford, Essex, not such a good place. But I reckon the Polish are a lot more annoying to racist folk than brown people.

I have not lived in any of the places your friend wants information on, so I cannot give you the information you require.

However, I know of lots of desi people who live in Walthamstow, Ealing, Croydon,Tooting and Surrey. Not too sure about Acton. I reckon East Ham would be ok too.

Thank you, :bb:

Surrey is outside London so if he will need to commute into London it does have a small pakistani population living there. Walthmstow and East Ham have a very large pakistani population. If yoour cousion is coming to london to work/ study he should also see how far his uni/ work place is from where he lives and would it be convient for him to travel there. Tube can be a killer in the morning and evening.

Here is the metropolitan police crime figures for boroughs in London.

Re: Moving to London

Oh yeh and Croydon isnt underground either. Its a killer to get to via public transport!

Re: Moving to London

Tell him to ignore London and move to the county of Cheshire.

Re: Moving to London

Walthamstow is good as many Pakistani's live in the area. Approx 30 minute ride to Central London by tube. Plenty of buses too. Lot's of Halal restaurants on Hoe Street. Plus some mosques (I saw two). Stores, shopping, parks too.

My brother lived in East Ham for a couple of months, he didn't encounter any problems and I have a cousin in Croydon. I didn't see many Pakistanis in these areas when I visited. Knife crime is a major worry in London. If your cousin has other family or relatives or friends in London then that would be beneficial.

Re: Moving to London

Stay away from London as much as he can. Surrey is the best place to live and it's not in London, it's a county outside London and it also borders with Berkshire.

PS: Acton, Ealing, , Walthomstow and croydon are in London.

Re: Moving to London

firmze he can go and live in the boonies and die of boredom or live in a halfway decent place from a cultural perspective and close enough to central london that goign there for work or for entertainment is not some 90 minute pilgrimage.

I am assuming he is a young guy who wants to enjoy life

Nope he is family guy, just moving to UK from Pakistan. Oh one more thing he was a old guppie too.. If i am remembering correctly his id was : masat_malang ... summer of 2000 or... 1999 ;)

**Zone 3. Acton Easy to commute if it's NORTH Acton, since it's on central lane.

Ealing** Too many Polish, again easy to commute from here as London underground runs to Ealing (however, Turtle lane AKA District Lane is not best of the London Underground)

Croydon Too far, he will need to catch tram service from wimbledon everyday.

Surrey Best Place to Live, but it's out of zone 6 and daily travel card will cost him more than £12.00

Tooting => Crap
Walthamstow*=>Crapier*
East Ham=> **Crapest

ADDENDUM:- is he coming for studies or job related move? If for studies then look for somewhere closer to his college/uni.

Re: Moving to London

walthamstow is like my second home since we have loads of family members there and i av sum great childhood memories.

good analysis...
Ealing (common) and Acton are best places in London I guess, not too expensive like Surrey and close to Central London, less crime and more cleaner than Tooting etc.

Besides you will find desis in all above mentioned places.

**

there are other places, but not in zone 3. Like Chigwell, waltham abbey, Epping, Isleworth etc. Not many desis there and yet easy access to London underground and other desi areas in Essex.

Re: Moving to London

Walthamstow, undoubtfully!

Re: Moving to London

Walthamstow...

Hi Guppies,

It's been a while nice i posted here (must be like 10 years or so). anyways, i am going to london with my wife 'cause i've got HSMP. I know I should avoid living in Brixton, Vauxhall and hackney.

are there any other neighborhoods that are not okay to live.

i am also eye balling Ruislip .. it's kinda far but i was told it's a decent place to live.

thanks for all your support
