Moving out of Pakistan

This is a sequel to another thread

I have seen many people who are willing to do anything possible to move out of Pakistan for obvious reasons. Some get married to foreigners, some get admitted to universities which then leads to permanent residency, some spend a lot of money to go through the direct immigration process.

I want to ask those living in Pakistan: Will you leave Pakistan if given a chance? If not, why not? If yes, what would it take for you to make the move?

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

Will never move out of Pakistan. I moved to Canada along with family in 2005 and we all came back after only 2 months only because we missed our country. There is no place like home!

Yes some people do want to move out of here and understandably so because they belong to middle or lower middle classes and it is very difficult to make ends meet when you belong to these classes but I havn't come across a single family from the upper or upper middle class who wants to move out. My cousin's family recently also got PR for Canada but they also opted out and have returned to Pakistan after 3/4 months

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

Canada is a different story due to weather, will they do the same if given PR for Australia?

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

Forget Australia. No one from Pakistan who is affluent enough would move out of Pakistan even for USA or UK. Yes people do have PR and foreign nationalities but they still live here in Pakistan.

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

'cuz either ways they are on trips most of the time :D

ok ok that wasn't meant to be a serious comment but that's what they show in Pakistani serials.

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

IMO this world needs both kind of people who move out of their country and people who never leave their country...

Lot of developments we see are due to people who left their country..and in same manner we see places with harshest climate inhabited by human because they dont like to move out of their native place

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

im sure they pay the equivalent taxes as well

im guessing the point of having other nationalities is to keep other doors open, the additional responsibility that comes with it very few ppl actually acknowledge

double standards imo

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

But my question is not at all about affluent people only.

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

Not to forget these affluent people constitute a minor portion of the population.

Of course they wouldn't leave Pak for anything, where else can they live their life in decandence, relish displaying their wealth amid gross income disparity, disregard laws without any major repurcussions. In other words, they own the biggest chunk of the pie, why leave it!

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

So basically those who don't want to leave the country are scum themselves, hence prefer to live in the scum system?

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

You reminded me of this joke i read long time ago

July 1 - Moved to Canada. I am so excited. It's so beautiful here. The scenery is great, the trees are so tall. Can't hardly wait to see them with snow covering them.

Oct. 14 - Canada. It is the most beautiful place on earth. The leaves have turned all colors and shades of red and orange. Went for a ride through the beautiful countryside and saw some deer. They are so graceful. Certainly they are the most wonderful animals on earth. This must be paradise. I love it here.

Nov. 11 - Deer season starts soon. I can't imagine anyone wanting to kill such a gorgeous creature. Hope it snows soon. I love it here.
Dec. 2 - It snowed last night. Woke up to find everything blanketed with white. It looks like a postcard. We went outside and cleaned the snow off the steps and shovelled the driveway. We had a snowball fight (I won). When the snow plow came by, we had to shovel the driveway again. What a beautiful place. I love Canada.

Dec. 12 - More snow last night. The snow plow did his trick again to the driveway. I love it here.

Dec. 19 - More snow last night. Couldn't get out of the driveway to get to work. It's beautiful here but I'm exhausted from shovelling. That **** snow plow.

Dec. 22 - More of that white **** fell last night. I've got blisters on my hands and a sore back from shovelling. I think the snow plow hides around the corner until I'm done shovelling the driveway. That freaking idiot!

Dec. 25 - Merry freaking Christmas! More freaking snow! If I ever get my hands on the freaking idiot who drives the snow plow, I swear I'll kill the idiot. Don't know why they don't use more salt on the roads to melt the freaking ice.

Dec. 27 - More freaking white **** last night. Been inside for three days now except for shovelling out the driveway after that snow plow goes through every time. Can't go anywhere, the car's stuck in a mountain of white **** and it's so freaking cold. The weatherman says to expect another 25 centimeters of snow again tonight. Do you know how many shovels full of snow 25 centimeters is?

Dec. 28 - That freaking weatherman was wrong. We got 75 cms of snow this time. At this rate it won't melt before summer. The snow plow got stuck up in the road and that idiot came to my door and asked to borrow my shovel. After I told him that I had already broken six shovels shovelling out all the snow he had pushed into my driveway, I darn near broke my last one over his freaking head.

Jan. 4 - Finally got out of the house today. Went to the store to get food and on my way back a damned deer ran in front of the car. Did about $3,000 damage to the car. Those freaking beasts should be killed. They are everywhere. Wish the hunters had exterminated them all last November.

May 3 - Took the car to the garage in town. Would you believe the thing is rusted out from all that salt they put all over the roads?

May 10 - Moved back to Pakistan. I can't imagine why anyone in their right mind would ever want to live in such a God forsaken place as Canada!

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

^LOL

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

Huh? If that was for me then I was talking about those who benefit from the status quo, the affluent, connected, powerful people . Dont get me wrong, there might be some well meaning, sincere people who amassed wealth through right means, but given the current state of the country, its fair to assume they are few and far between.

Oh and the joke can be expanded to include the cursing we do when the winter lingers on till May! %@^#

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

Ah okay. You gave me a minor heart attack there for a minute, kuriye. :/

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

Cool down girl! no one said that :hugz:

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

:rotfl:

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

so are you saying that your family and the cousins' family both gave up your PR for Canada?

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

What's the point of even leaving then if you stay only 2 months?

From my understanding, the immigration process takes years in Pakistan, and costs lots of $$...to stick it out for a few months seems like such a waste of all that effort and $.

Reminds me of some of my relatives who are being sponsored, after years and years of waiting and spending $$....they have zero interest in even visiting US...kinda sad.

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

^yeah we did. Cousins family can still go and live there coz they just came back. They have around 2-3 years left in which to complete mandatory stay but they won't be going

Re: Moving out of Pakistan

The biggest point is we missed home. And no one sponsored us so dont worry none of our ABCD or CBCD relatives were harmed or even bothered in the process :D
