after much thought, I have decided to move on with my life. I mean there is only so much time that someone can sit around with a hope that the other one will bother to make an appearance, you wait and you wait, if not today, it will be tomorrow that the other one will bother to be there, you hold on to memories of both together..the time at the cinema, or the fun trip abroad, long drives, toasty in front of a fireplace.
so today, I decided it was time to simplify my life, and just move on, there are others out there that will never get a chance and I will never get a chance with them, if i have no place for them. So I needed to make a move and well, it was a little tough, because I was wondering what happens if the other one comes around just as I have decided to cut ties and moved, because then there is no coming back, if the other socks even show up, I am tossing these solo socks hanging out in my sock drawer.
so how long do you keep these abandoned and separated socks before you toss em?
^ What happened, X2? Who are you trying to move on from?
Does moving on always have to entail cutting ties? I don't think so. Moving on could mean....moving on from past hurts.......focusing on yourself.......and keeping a door open for when that person wants to contact you but not staring at that door (and maybe lowering your expectations a bit so you don't get hurt).
I am telling you man, missing a sock in during the laundry is bigger mystery than finding a single shoe on the shoulder of a freeway. You wonder why the guy did not toss out the other shoe.
redvelvet..errr moving on from socks where the other one of the pair is nowhere to be found, I keep these socks around hoping the other sock will show up and well how long can one hold on to these single socks with that hope.
out with them all I say..moving on..heading to macys to restock tomorrow

Reminds me of the book I read to my students, Wayside School Is Falling Down. Or wait......was it Wayside School Gets A Little Stranger? Or maybe it was Sideway Stories from Wayside School. Anyhow, one of the students disrupted the lesson just to share a story about how he lost his sock...and he had a song for it too.
I got one sock
Looking for the other
One sock
One sock
Looking for its brother
When I find that sock
I'll tell you what I'll do
I'll put it on my foot
And stick it in my shoe
Does that make you feel better, X2? Maybe if you sing it, the sock will find you. It works in Bollywood.....sing a song......and your loved one (who has bionic hearing and can hear you from anywhere) reunites with you.

EXACTLY this happened to me once and I was trying to solve this mystery for so many days . Honestly I am still confused about it . Means how come on sock can just disappear during laundry . There is no logical answer to this question . Strange . . . very strange .
too late, I put the socks in a bag and tossed em already.
lovely song btw
i buy packs of tube socks. you miss a sock, you keep the other one of the pair separately and wait to lose another sock of a different pair. Then you put together both lonely socks and you got a pair back
another thing I do is to keep those lonely socks in my car trunk. Helps to buff/polish the surface and sometimes serve as a glove when checking oil or changing a flat.

i used to buy tube socks as a sophomore in college, and eventually the 12 pair would dwindle down to 3 :)
Say it ain’t so! I just invested in a mesh bag thinking it would help to save lost socks in the future…You make me feel like giving up all hope :hinna:
Oh well, I’ll worry about this in 6 months - thank goodness it’s now sandal season and the open-toe shoes have come out of the closet - no socks, no worry
you said it before me … losing a sock in the laundry is one of the greatest mysteries of the world. it’s so bizzarre, like something out of the twilight zone.
