There has never been any movie shot in New York. Ever. Dont let the film sets fool you. They're there to make you think a movie is being filmed. It makes New Yorkers feel special.
Whenever you see a scene from "New York", its just another city dressed up like New York. Toronto... Chicago... Atlanta... Hanoi... whatever. I dont blame them, people are just nicer outside of the real New York.All you need to do is make sure the cabs are yellow, the roads are dirty, and the extras are obnoxious and voila- you got New York.
Write THAT for your paper. Straight A's are coming your way.

taxi driver, and dog day afternoon, two of my fav movies were shot in NYC.
now not all scenes for many movies are shot in just oen city anyways, but we cant say there was no shooting in NYC.

Hollywood has good collection of NYC street signs and yellow cabs in stock. When a movie is shot in TO you can see how the crew changes TO into NYC in an hour. They shoot Daylight scenes in night with those powerfull flood lights, literally. If you catch this setup in TO, you will be amazed for sure. The technique they use, its enormous and unbelivable. Now think what they can do in studios with all those high-tech stuff and computers.
Hollyood is only carving for one thing, new stories. Yes, it is as repetative as Bollywood or Hong Kong.

i said i have to write cinematic analysis. so obviously i have to deal with mimicry of NYC, n if its not a real NYC then its way better.
kuch bhi ho, there are always some glitches exist while we see depiction of the original.

I actually saw the shooting of this Adam Sandler movie, Mr. Deeds, where Winona Ryder is at the Rockefeller center. We actually followed her to her trailer and my friend with me couldn't help herself and screamed "Winona, I love you" when she came out of the trailer incognito, wearing a wig and big, black sunglasses. At which Winona put her finger to her lips and went "shhhhhhhhhhh" and then gave us a big smile and walked on by.
