Re: Movies from 90's

So many of my favourites mentioned already. I'll list a couple more. Also, I think we should have another thread for various genres and not just Hollywood. There's so much good world cinema, its hard to just pick out Hollywood films.

OMG how about a GS Movie Project?

I have some crazy ones that are probably distasteful to some people here so if anyone wants some weird Film Noir then I'll add those too.

Anyway here are a few that come to mind right now. I'll list more later I'm sure.

Dances with Wolves - Pretty sweet film, I liked it.
Babe - I remember reading the book early on in school and then saw the film. Good for kids.
Braveheart - Freedom! <3
Trainspotting - I liked it.
Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - Pretty entertaining, I thought so anyways.
The Thin Red Line - Another sweet war film.
Heat - Probably the best coming together of Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. Sweet action.
Edward Scissorhands - Johnny Depp and Helena B. Carter. You can't go wrong.
Lord of the Flies - I absolutely loved the book. One of my favourites.
Boyz n the Hood - I love my ghetto films. This is such a brilliant film.
Jacobs Ladder - Creepy. Recommended.
Se7en - One of my favourites. Love love love!
Schindler's List - A great soundtrack to go along with a great film.
Being John Malkovich - Haha another loopy one but I recommend it.

Re: Movies from 90's

Great movies everyone.

some of my favourite:

Dances with Wolves
Braveheart
(been mentioned by GIDSA and Kiterunner already)

The Last of the Mohicans
From Dusk till Dawn
The Fifth Element
Jumanji
Die Hard 2&3

Re: Movies from 90's

^ Dusk til Dawn & the Die Hards <3<3
Also, I'm going to go ahead and say Aliens 3. Despite its bad rep, I think it's a neat little film.

goddamn, aye to the weird film noir movies; i'll show you mine if you show me yours. And aye to the gs movie project.

Re: Movies from 90's

Good call Hareem!

I can always count on 'El Topo' for that ;) I really enjoyed the film. It does make you think.

Sure, how about a Film Noir thread? Or is that too much. How about we start with Begotten? Have you seen it? Its way out there. Ooh and Taxidermia! Dark humour, its such a great film.

Okay, sweet. I'll set up a thread soon and we can work out some rules/criteria for adding the film onto the list.

Re: Movies from 90's

How could I have missed East is East and Edward Scissorhands and The Last of the Mohicans? I heart them.
It was the best decade for disney films I think, they just haven't been as good (except Shrek and Kung Fu Panda).

Re: Movies from 90’s

Lock Stock, Schindler’s List, Se7en, Being John Malkovich, all great movies!

From Dusk Till Dawn was awesome, who can forget Salma Hayek? :hehe: As were the other Tarantino movies, Pulp Fiction, Desperado, Reservoir Dogs.

Jumanji was a classic. Some others I watched growing up:

  • Space Jam
  • The Mask
  • Armageddon
  • Jakob the Liar
  • The Indian in the Cupboard (I read the books too)
  • Bad Boys
  • The Ghost and The Darkness
  • Scream
  • I Know What You Did Last Summer
  • Ace Ventura movies
  • Dumb and Dumber
  • The Green Mile
  • Robocop (ok I’m not sure if this is 90s)
  • The Sixth Sense
  • Mission: Impossible
  • Sleepy Hollow
  • True Lies
  • Awakenings, I actually watched this a few years ago but it is a brilliant movie.
