movie theater seating debate

Re: movie theater seating debate

Haha!! That's for sure. Anything is possible in India!!!

Re: movie theater seating debate

First come First Serve, you have full rights to either give or denie the seats to anyone who asked you

Re: movie theater seating debate

wot if u've never been to a cinema to watch a movie :D

anyways, let me be the odd one out and say its not a big deal to move over if there are seats available on the other side and you remain with your companions. and even if you think its beneath you to move over, no one is forcing you. People make a request and if you don't move they would go somewhere else.

Re: movie theater seating debate

First of all, some of you ba-asool folks should take a chill pill. Thand rakho, jawano!!

Watching movie in a theater is supposed to be a fun activity, where you go and enjoy yourself (preferably with friends) and enjoy a good movie. Get over the high horse of this-pisses-me-off and that-pisses-me-off routine. Get there early to get seats you like, then put a smile on your beautiful faces and enjoy the movie.

Second, I have seen and been through all kind of scenarios. Many times, it has happened that I went with a friend, went up to the row we want to sit in and see one empty seat, then a couple sitting and then another empty seat. Just as the two of us were making our way to the empty seats, the couple out of sheer courtesy and decency themselves said "if you want us to move, we can, and you guys can sit together". We'll thank them, they'll move one seat and everyone is happy. Its not hard. It won't materially alter your movie watching experience if you move one seat left or right. And it will make someone else happy. I know its hard to fathom such acts of kindness and generosity, but once others have done this to you a few times, hopefully you will also do that for others, because, after all, the whole reason you guys are there is to have a good time (unless you are there simply to sit in expensive air-conditioning, in which case may I suggest the Food Court at a nearby Mall).

Cheers!

Re: movie theater seating debate

...two people versus 8 people is a whole different situation, when some cheeta starts playing his role as some elementary school seating master, can you move here, you move furtherm you move further..basically makign everyone clear out to make 8 seats which were oitherwise spread in the row as single or double seats.

it is supposed to be a fun activity, and the fun starts getting impacted when a herd of nerds who arrived late stand like little seat chart eleves and start bugging you.

an act of kindness also is to not bug people for your own lack of planning.

as I said, if one wants to move, sure, but one should not be expected or obligated to move.

Re: movie theater seating debate

Well, my philosphy is simple. I don't ask people to move or to inconvenience themselves on my account. But I will gladly move one seat here or there myself, likely without even asking, if it will make someone else happy.

My better movie going routine is to avoid first weekend rush, and wait for the next weekend, Sunday night show. Crowds are less. You don't have to arrive insanely early and stand in line for many wasteful minutes, you can find a seat of your choice, and if its a late enough show, you will have empty seats on both sides of your group to spread out and place drinks and popcorns etc, and most importantly have no one sitting in a row in front of you either (which is really helpful if you are tall and have long legs).

Re: movie theater seating debate

So which seats are the best seats .. I understand the middle of the row to line yourself up with the center of the screen.. but how far back from the screen?

I want to be as far back so I sit a little above the middle of the screen .. that means if you draw a line horizontally to divide the screen into two equal halves, I like to sit at the row, where my feet are at the level of that half line.

But that is good, video wise. From audio (surround sound perspective), is that also the ideal location .. or dead center of the room is ideal, or 2/3rd from the front is ideal ..

Re: movie theater seating debate

TLK yeah that is about 2/3rd of the way up, thats what I like, unless I wanted to make out in which case you cant beat the last row.

PS1: just make sure you have someone to make out with
PS2: dont worry about PS1 if your name is peewee herman

Re: movie theater seating debate

Re: movie theater seating debate

Well kisi ne mujhe se poochaa nahi magar mein jaga eik seat idhar se udhar kerney ke liye dey hi doon shayad, I changed my mind thats why I am editing it. mujhe yaad ayaa eik dafa ham aaye to logo ne hamein bhi jaga dey di thi people here are generally courteous.

Re: movie theater seating debate

aik seat .... What about 5 seats when the great row consolidators do their tetris
courtesy is not just accomodating someone courtesy is also not inconveniencing someone especially if the damn movie has started. I paid money to see jackie chan stunts not late lateef stunts

The courtesy argument is an easy way out. Its like when a lane is ending and ppl had plenty of time to merge in but not pappy genius who wants to speed up all the way to the end of the lane and then expect ppl who merged safely are under some obligation to let him merge

By entertaining these ppl we are only encouraging this

Damn I wish they had numbered seating here. So uncivilized not to have em
