Re: movie theater seating debate
With certain rare exceptions, I think its extremely rude to arrive late and then ask someone to move. I'd likely decline, esp since these past years I've been to the movies only rarely and only with my boyz...so I arrive early to make sure to get them good seats.
I could understand if it was a handicapped person wanting an aisle seat or a pregnant woman wanting to be close to the door for calls of nature, things like that.
Otherwise, let the rude latecomers sit where there are seats available, tell them, sorry we arrived early so that we'd get the seats we wanted.
Re: movie theater seating debate
seems that the jury is still out. I agree with teh fact that if it is some elderly or handicapped person and they need some seat convenient for them.
I usually sit 2/3ds of the way up smack dab in the middle of the row..thats where I want to sit, if i arrive late, i dont go and ask ppl to move.
heck we got to a kids movie late and it was full so rather than ask ppl to make room for 4 ppl or split up, we left and returned our tickets.
Re: movie theater seating debate
here in denmark we dont have PIA wala mahol in cinemas, jo banda jaha bethe udhar hi rahe ga chahay uski mangetar pichlee seat par kissi aur kay saath gul-charay ura rahi ho.
And here in the desi cinemas, shaam ko grand show mai jab bhi koi gana ata hai to there is always a group of ppl who start dancing around the stairs : )
hahaah i have not gone to see a desi movie in a cinema in ages, did nto see dancing though

dude, I am almost always early to get my seat of choice, so no plastic seat needed. if I am late then i will sit whereever i find a seat
Re: movie theater seating debate
I have never been asked to move like end of the isle to make room but if there are spaces left in the middle then I never mind moving to accomodate others. My opnion, it doesnt make any difference in regular movies (3D / 4D is a different issue) where you sit because it is a huge screen and if you are in so called "perfect seat" to begin with, the views would be just as awsome few seats next to it.
lol.
i m not a first show person...i rather go to last-[almost] empty house show. :d
Re: movie theater seating debate
first of all I have to admit that I prefer theatres where u can actually pick your seats, earlier u buy, better seats u get, and then also price is diff based on where you sit.
but thats not the case with cinemas in US, atleast most that i have been to.
so, we want to get good seats...get there way aheads of time, go in find the right seats, just the rigth level away, right in the center of the aisle, we sit there, nothing is playing, then you have ads, and previews...and then ppl start coming in, and start sitting, since ppl want person space and all they sit spread out, so maybe there is another few ppl sitting 2 seats away to the left, ppl on the right left a seat or two. Now ppl who show up late first stand at the front of the theater and are trying to look for seats then they come up and ask, oh could you please move..
why should I? am in the seat I wanted....go sit separately..wth kind of request is that, and half the time its damn late lateef desis...which proportionally makes em bigger perps.
as i was talking to someone, they said I was wrong for not moving, which may be the way most late lateefs see it, but then again, my view is I got there early to find the right seat. and lack of planning on someone else's part does not constitute an obligation for me. I may choose to move, but should not be expected to move.
whats your take
Okay We have never experienced such a thing or seen it here...maybe its because everything is bigger and better in Texhaaass.....too much space ...less overcrowding etc etc etc...

I like ticket numbers and an usher taking me down to my seat with a flashlight. And then I can sit quietly and munch on my smartees.

Re: movie theater seating debate

Oh maan thats funny ![]()
Well I agree with you X2: nothing is more annoying than people arriving late and then asking you to move down so that they can sit there :halo: I mean why can’t you just get there on time to begin with.
Having said that, I would probably move down if someone asked politely. Otherwise…not.
Re: movie theater seating debate
I saw Tomorrow never dies in a movie theatre near 42nd st. Times Square…
People clapped with “WOW” when James Bond took over F16 and flown it away …

Re: movie theater seating debate
islamically you should also not inconvenience others due to your own follies and lack of planning.
I am not talking about movie theatres but in "gatherings".
Re: movie theater seating debate
I can't say about cinema but in any other gathering one should make room/accomodate others. Thats part of Islamic culture.
islamically, you should not be in the theatre to begin with
Re: movie theater seating debate
First come First serve. Me leaving no seat unless SHE is a HOT blond :p
Re: movie theater seating debate
That’s nothing man! In India, people would have have exchanged emotional hugs or performed a bhangra number in the aisles during such a scene!!!
