Hi, (sorry if this thread is in the wrong section, not sure where else to post it!)
i have a project - i have to watch a movie (perferably a hollywood movie) pertaining to police and/or torture and then critique it with what we learned in class
– i was thinking of the movie CRASH (for those who havent watch it-- i HIGHLY recommend it) , but i watched it and i just want to know if theres another good movie i can watch – in the mood to watch a really good movie lol
Re: Movie suggestion related to police and/or torture
Das Experiment. It's a german movie and not exactly about police but it's about how when people are given power (pertaining to law and order) over others they tend to abuse it. It's a brilliant movie based on a real research project gone wrong.
Re: Movie suggestion related to police and/or torture
"La Haine".
It deals with French ghettos and the treatment of immigrants by the police. The story is essentially: a cop kills an Arab youth, and his friends (Jewish, Senegalese etc) vow to kill a cop in retaliation.
Its one of those movies that leaves you speechless at the end.
Re: Movie suggestion related to police and/or torture
The movies you guys are suggesting have very little to do with Police/Torture. Sure they have cops in them, but then...so does Robocop and The Simpsons. Doesnt make them good police/torture movies.
Baigette, if I understand correctly you want a movie on police brutality. If that is the case, I'd really recommend you watch La Haine. If i got your criteria wrong, let me know what exactly you're trying to portray and I'll suggest an exact match for you.
The good thing about La Haine is it's a short movie with awesome reviews. Also, because it's a indie film it means your classmates will most likely be watching it for the first time. Nothing is worse than showing a class full of students a movie they have already watched.
Re: Movie suggestion related to police and/or torture
watch "Evil Angels"... we used it 4 english 4 a similar puropse... its based on a true story on how how prejudice (racial, religous & cultural) got in the way of a trial 4 a mother accused of murdering her child (the mother claiming a dingo took it)... its not enitrely based around police but i guess they were involved in it...
