It occurs to me after reading GS recently that having a pope was never a problem until he died. We also never had a problem with a moulvi leading the prayer until one fine day it happened to be a woman. We suddenly have lots of issues on our hand. What pope was never able to bring out in us by visiting mosques while he was alive, he did by dying. Death is a tragic thing. GS just proved what that means. God bless his soul and accomodate him in heaven if He had one for Christians. God must have thought of this when he was creating Jesus, no?.
But there is a more important matter at hand that involves living people. People who want to lead prayers. For whatever reason. Do you need a reason to lead a prayer? How do you know that moulvi is not eying your 10 years old behind him under that dhoti when he’s sur-ba-sajood to God? Like I said, we have different reasons to lead a prayer.
But the things got starting rattled when it’s not the moulvi who’s eying the kid. It’s kid (who’s miraculously an 18 years old mullah now) who’s eying moulvi’s ass just ‘cause the moulvi happens to be a woman. That’s sheer distraction, I admit. But I ask you this: What kinda freaky namazi are you who gets distracted by an ass? Have you not seen an ass before? Ok, I take that question back–you probably have not. But that raises an interesting notion in my simple mind: If you have had enough chances to see the ass on the street, chances are you won’t be paying any attention to the ass that’s sar-ba-sajood in front of you. How many of you really check out nuns’ asses? Raise hands. I know I do but it’s cause I’m comparing. I’m comparing them with the normal, non-nun asses to remind myself that nuns are offlimist cause they’ve got nothing going on that department (OG should keep quiet at this point to relate his nun-chasing days as it’s irrelevent).
The point is that any ass that decides to lead prayer ain’t gonna be a good ass otherwise what the heck it’d be doing in a mosque to begin with? It’s either gonna be too skinny or too humpty dumpty. And if you think that skinny or humpty dumpty is just like the in-between walking out on the street then you’ve got bigger problems. May be you need to get out more and check out more asses to know the difference. This is serious because if you’re able to tell the difference then you won’t be distracted during your worship. A good deed indeed. Think about this: God will actually reward you to check out asses 'cause he knows you’ll be concentrating on Him while praying and not the ass. If that’s not the true bi-partisan (and there is no pun my brother as I don’t want to distract you) spirit, I don’t know what is.
So, can we just have women leading the prayer and get on with their agenda and let the brothers check out asses out on the street only and get on with theirs? I don’t see anybody losing.
Roman I agree with you. Muslims are one messed up group of people. Funny, that it is that way, despite the fact that Islam isn’t that hard to understand.
Oh well. Give it a generation or two. You’ll see way more controversial female scholars coming out from the underground. This is just the beginning.
Male chauvinists, watch out…we’re coming… muahahahahaha
PCG, again may I remind you of your understanding of Islam? Do we need to revisit that topic again. You can keep trying with people like Amna Hadud, but it will not change tha fact that women are NOT allowed to lead the prayers.
BTW, who are we...you have a mouse in your pocket? :D
PCG, what's the point in controversy. Religion, spirituality, whatever you want to call it; these are all private matters, between you and God. What's the use of bringing others into it or politicising it? Keep your shtit in the toilet, if it hits the fans, it doesn't make you any more religious. And that's the end point right: to be more religious.
You are right PCG, Islam is not as hard to understand as people make it out to be. For example clearly polygamy is allowed yet there are so many people out there muslim/nonmuslim that just can't believe that to be true when it says right there in the Quran. Really boggles the mind.
right geekk, just like it says right there all about Queen Sheba but yet muslim women are not deemed to have the ability to lead. I mean, it boggles my mind too.
leave her alone guys. She has not realized yet that feminist movement has failed and so shall all the efforts to bring Islam down by half cooked scholars of Islam who do not even know the difference between farz and wajib.
