What is the meaning of this Punjabi phrase ‘moti waliya’… not ‘moti’ as fat , but moti as in jewel.
Heard this in Ashfaq Ahmed’s play dealing with Sufi / mazar/ Khanqah set up, normally uttered by a Faqeer (Allah lok banda).
Also heard in intro of this song from Indian movie ‘Border’.

Malang, sufi etc. jo galay main moti/mankay Daal ke phirtay hain mazaaron par. I think.
Paag lagge rehn, maujaan hondiyaan rehn.

but that is not applicable in the context of Border movie's song: maahi maahi motiyan wala, mera sohna dachiyan wala.... Its folklore which is referring to some traits in people

Moti sift hai kisi ki like *Khusbu,shafaaf,sadaf *+ Flower ka name bhi Moti/Motiya... and Moti punjabi me Farzand ko bhi kehte hein...

mmahi motiya wala ho to kia wo farzand bun jata hai.. waise Border main Akshay Khanna Pooja Bhat ka farzand hi lag raha tha
