Mother Tongue :Sindhi.

Second Language:English,Hindi.

Favourite: I can read and write Greek,but will not know the meaning.

I can somehow adjust Sinhalese,but can not read that fluently.

I can speak Tamil also understand and speak Jaffna Tamil(which is not that difficult if you know Tamil-but quite mysteriously I know it better than my Tamil counterparts)

I know Gujrati…I am `forced’ to speak it because my wife is from Baroda,Gujrat.

I love to learn French and German… :D.The inspiration has come from a cousin.If she could learn French and become a French teacher anybody can do it.

I can understand Kannada but can not read or write.Even can not speak that fluently.

Do you know about Sindhi Chokro of Bollywood?

Brother,indeed I wanted to reply to your thread but I indeed got carried away with time and I swear,I thought about it even this morning.Interestingly my mother had reminded me about it.

Brother this is the trend,I can see. Here in Bangalore,all the new generation people do speak Sindhi and it is mainly due to the reason that our community meetings(Samaj council) are a routine process.We conduct monthly gatherings and a couple of small meetings almost weekly.There are Sindhi classes for those who later migrated to Bangalore.Also there is a dedicated book shop where we can purchase not only books but religious materials(Topi is the one that is out of stock ).
Bangalore’s Sindhi community is a clopse-knit one and we have one of the biggest funds available for the members.

As far as other places are concerned,I believe there is indeed a growing tendency for the people to converse in Sindhi and the trend is really motivating.My wife’s side ,both(father and mother) have their very close families in Hyderabad,Pakistan.It is a very conservative family and her parents are so strict that Sindhi is the only language to be used at home.Her grand mother had visited Hinglaj in 2011 and been to Pakistan more than 10 times.

        My wife speaks Gujrati (ofcourse  she was born and brought up there) and we at times converse in  Gujrati.Baroda has a sizable population of Sindhis.I am going to Baoda  next week and the first thing I want to get is a Topi.  :)

Mother Tongue - English (Fluent)

Secondary Tongues - Urdu (Fluent) & Punjabi (Not so much, kaam chal jaata hay)…

Yes because I hardly lived in Punjab, and in Kendriya Vidyalaya (KVs) hindi is lingua franca
So a kid would speak Tamil with her mother and will turn and will speak impeccable Hindi with you

No tie. Just when we go for some meetings. Tie is not that popular in multinationals now. At Unilever Pakistan, only tea-boys have ties.

I don’t get abour Greek. How and why would you read and write it and not know it.

I learned it at the age of 13.Interestingly I learned Tamil also at the same age.

Greek,I first learned Alphabets and I could read and write but can not speak.The problem is,my knowldege is limited to just Alphabets.So from 1992 to 2015 in a span of 23 years I know nothing but only one word in Greek(despite knowing Alphabets read and write).
