I think Persian is an opening to both Pashto and Balochi

not for pashto. some dialects of pashto do have persian influence (mostly spoken in balochistan and southern afghanistan) but not the main pashto itself. at least thats what my pathan friend told me once. and they (he was yosufzai and proud about that) didnt like mixing persian in pashto.

balochi may be, i've no clue.

nahi koi masla nahi ...mere apni ik zaati raaye thee ..werna bohat say log achi punjabi achi urdu or achi araibic sub ko maintain ker laytay hain ...

Mother tongue: Punjabi

Second langauge: Hindi, I am better at second than first because I studied this one :)

Yes because I hardly lived in Punjab, and in Kendriya Vidyalaya (KVs) hindi is lingua franca :)
So a kid would speak Tamil with her mother and will turn and will speak impeccable Hindi with you :)

For whatever I remember, I was always a trilingual child, I could speak and understand three languages (English, Urdu, Punjabi) at the same time. Obviously I was naturally more fluent in English since I was born and growing up in a English speaking country. In terms of additionally learned languages, I can speak good enough French (read and write) and Kashmiri, struggled to pick up Pashto but instantly got the accent right before anything else, lol.

For whatever I remember, I was always a trilingual child, I could speak and understand three languages (English, Urdu, Punjabi) at the same time. Obviously I was naturally more fluent in English since I was born and growing up in a English speaking country. In terms of additionally learned languages, I can speak good enough French (read and write) and Kashmiri, struggled to pick up Pashto but instantly got the accent right before anything else, lol.

Kashmiri is my sasurali language and I don't even understand 10% of it

They probably speak authentic Kashmiri which presumably is quite different and difficult than Kotli (Azad Kashmir) dialect I can speak. Once you get the basics right, and familiarise yourself with common phraseology, it's very much like Punjabi with a twist.

Mother Tongue :Sindhi.

Second Language:English,Hindi.

Favourite: I can read and write Greek,but will not know the meaning.

I can somehow adjust Sinhalese,but can not read that fluently.

I can speak Tamil also understand and speak Jaffna Tamil(which is not that difficult if you know Tamil-but quite mysteriously I know it better than my Tamil counterparts)

I know Gujrati…I am `forced’ to speak it because my wife is from Baroda,Gujrat.

I love to learn French and German… :D.The inspiration has come from a cousin.If she could learn French and become a French teacher anybody can do it.

I can understand Kannada but can not read or write.Even can not speak that fluently.

Wow. So learned. :k:

I don’t get abour Greek. How and why would you read and write it and not know it.

Indeed ,it is not so many languages.I can read write and speak Sindhi,English and Hindi.Since Gujrati is alot similar to Sindhi,I can follow and `speak’.Since I live in Karnataka,I can understand Kannada.I have traveled to SriLanka many times both on official and personal assignments so Sinhalese is not that a problem for me and my Tamil is better.Greek ,I tried to learn on my own and I can just read it.

My expedition'** win North East SriLankan people has made me go through their rich history,have friends there and interact with them.Also I have some very **valuable’ friends in the South and my Sinhalese is good but can not read or write.

I want to learn French and German..

I had tried to learn Malay… Now when I see the word`Malay’ it is a mixed feeling in me. A feeling of sadness,hatred,nostalgia and what not…I learned a few words Now mysteriously,I forgot all those words…
