There have been lots of memorable moments for Pakistan in this WC (that will probably last us our lifetimes) but what do you think has been the most pivotal moment(s), after which we never looked back?
I nominate Afridi’s breathtaking catch to dismiss Styris off Gul’s bowling.
Our fielding was under severe criticism from all quarters and we needed a moment of inspiration. Afridi provided that which just uplifted every individual…
^ I agree 100% - that seemingly minor incident caused some serious ripples in our otherwise still pond, and some good bowling and fielding performances followed.
Surprisingly,, while clicking on this thread, I had the same moment in my mind... Truly, this was work of a champion..Afrdis catch was talk of day by the commentators.
Also, while plahing against SA, when Aamir got hammered by Kallis in the first over.. Afridi immediately went up to the bowler to cheer him up.. This was well noted by all and discussed well throughout the match.
I don't know how he pulled it off but this was the turning point for Afridi and Pakistan. When he took this catch you could sense something special was going to happen and it did.
Another I can think of is when Younis told the reporters T20 is all about fun. What he meant was to take it easy, play your natural game and enjoy. That took all the pressure off of the team. After that they not only started to play better but enjoyed it too.
Have to agree with Saby. Another moment (not within the field) was when I heard about Abdul Razzaq joining the team.
rightly pointed out.... Razzak inclusion and Butts exclusion played an utterly important role......
After Razzak's inclusion, our batting, and bowling departments both got strengthened.
I agree that running catch by Afridi was sensational and one of the best catches that I have ever seen.....THE catch of the ICC T20 World Cup!! That gave the team much needed boost in the field. Second most inspiring moment was Gul's remarkable bowling 5/6 in the same game. Pakistan just got better and better after that
June 13th, Afridi sprints for his life to take a spectacular catch and get rid of Scott Styris. It was the first of Umar Gul’s recording breaking 5 wickets.
The catch, Afridi’s celebratory stance and the rapturous crowd…all signalled a change in things to come.

Razzaq gave us control with the ball at the start and his talent with the bat made Afridi feel more comfortable in that he could go up the order, play himself in to an extent and then hit big shots when required- producing more runs and a good strike rate too!
Afridi's catch turned it but Kamran and Afridi's batting v SA showed we were there to win, as I witnessed it live.
so majority thinks that Afridi's catch turned it around for our team. But there have been some useful inputs as well. Just like shikara and someone else pointed out razzaq's inclusion.
i can think of another one. We lacked a 20-20 six hitter at the top of innings. We were relying too much on Kamran. Afridi was thought to be a spent force with the bat. and Misbah/Malik were not in hitting form at least. Shahazaib's aggressive shots were a timely relief for Younis and team management then.
