The Priest,

A message was sent via Prophets to every nation in their language. A certain group of people chose to reject part of that message they received. Qur'an is the Final Testament meant to be the judgement of authority over earlier Books.
Those to whom We have given the Book rejoice at what hath been revealed unto thee: but there are among the clans those who reject a part thereof. Say: "I am commanded to worship God, and not to join partners with Him. Unto Him do I call, and unto Him is my return."(13:36)

Thus have We revealed it to be a judgment of authority in Arabic. Wert thou to follow their (vain) desires after the knowledge which hath reached thee, then wouldst thou find neither protector nor defender against God. (13:37)

We did send apostles before thee, and appointed for them wives and children: and it was never the part of an apostle to bring a sign except as God permitted (or commanded).** For each period is a Book (revealed)**.(13:38)
These are GOD's revelations that we recite to you truthfully. In which Hadith other than GOD and His revelations do they believe? (45:6)

No, as PakistaniAbroad has explained, each community got a Message in its language. Did the Jews and Christians get their Messages in English? These were then translated and the originals ceased to exist. The Qur'an came in Arabic, continues in its original form and shall remain so till the end of this world.

You can get copies in any language; but they are not interpretations as you mentioned. They are renditions of the text in the language of the translator. I am sure you will appreciate the difference between an interpretation and a translation.

First: your question about "recommend a certain one that is closest to the truth".... cannot be answered. Everyone who would answer this question would have in mind that one he is using is closest to the truth. I mean, his answer would be 'biased' towards the translation he uses.

Second: if you Quran in Arabic language and beleive it to be GOD's message, and you want to get closer to 'real' message then I recommend that your learn Arabic, otherwise reading a translation will make you follow certain (human) mind.

I'd appreciate that you open a separate thread about this question. Also, it'd be good to know verses before and after this one, and what is the background, otherwise it would be a disaster.
