Sasti Roti, Yellow Cab, Aashiyaana, Danish Schools, Metro, Laptop, Solar Panels and whatnot, Sharifs are second to none when it comes to gimmickry. Punjab gave away almost the same to these stratagems what Islamabad lost to corruption. When you stop devising longterm plans and concentrate on publicity stunts, you prove no less danger to your country than those waging war against you from mountains.
Yellow Cabs, loans and Sasti Roti set the national exchequer back by huge amounts. Yet the government is still adamant to dish out more loans that are never paid back. As far as training the youth to get employment abroad is concerned, the longterm employment view of the US, EU and the Middle East does not presents and good prospect. Is there anything substantial we are capable of thinking and doing?
When will that little Sharif understand that the government needs to GENERATE money, not just DISTRIBUTE it. Peeli taxi, Qarza for opening a shop, etc. only distributes money among people. But setting up industries and manufacturing actually generates or makes money.
That is what should be the priority. Everything else is nothing but political gimmicks.
Anybody knows if the BISP will continue to be funded by the federal government or will it now be supported by the Sindh government onlly? Or is it going to be scrapped altogether?
BISP or Sasti Roti, just different names of flimsy vision and shallow wisdom.

Pehlay qarza lo, fer aik aaad peeli taxi lo, usko zaida qeemat pe bech do, saath mein aik laptop le lo, ticket katao aur metrobus mein beth kar lahore airport jao aur mulk chor do

Though im not an economist by any stretch of the imagination, I think common sense would tell us that whether your running a household, or running a nation, you should have certain strategies in mind. That being, never allow your expenditures to exceed your savings, always have a backup plan (savings account, reserves) which you back up with another back up plan (collateral), focus on generating stable revenue sources (taxes, stable investment in business) which again you can supplement with your backup if things ever go sour, and if you must invest make it for the long term (investing in children's education for example), and keep a separate account altogether for luxuries like vacations etc, but dont go on a spending spree. Encourage your kids to maintain their own savings so they can be responsible for themselves when the time comes. And finally, big investments, things that may or may not succeed, these things should only be considered once you have stable financial base, so you can confiedently cover your losses. Putting all your eggs in one basket is rarely a good idea.
Pakistan's problems seem to stem from to many short term solutions to long term problems... Persistent bleeding isn't stopped with a bandage, you have to investigate the source and fix it there.
These Sharifs do NOT learn, do they? qaum ko qarz leyna hi sikhana bus :) Improve the conditions of the common man, increase investor's confidence so that opportunities for venture capitals rise.
but nahi.. lets give them loans for life so that they vote them in for life in order to ease the conditions of those loans.
As far as sharifs are concerned their biggest supporters were the traders and industrialists. If they don't do anything in that respect they can kiss their next term goodbye.
