same here :D
I'm more conservative than both my parents.
Oddly enough me and my dad are on the same wave lenght while i am more liberal than my mother.
No I am more liberal than both my parents, I think they need to loosen up and relax on some issues then can be awfully strict at times.
Both my parents and I are basically on the same line when it comes to "conservativeness". My sister is very much more religious than we though.
I am more liberal than my parents. less so compared to my dad, my mum is from a very traditional family, even though she is the mostconservative in our household, among her siblings she is the most liberal :)
I see what catty is saying though. I know ppl who were very liberal in their youth but then became more conservative and their kids are more conservative in their 20's then the parents were. My wife is an example of that.
I knew hijabi friends in college whose parents whenin college age were very liberal. the contrast was amazing, this one girl who did hijab, her parents at er age were drinking, dancing, mum in sleeveless tops and skirts. I saw pics etc so it was not just folklore.
The family got ultra conswrvative when their daughters atrted getting older, they moved to pakistan..got all strict and as a result when they moved back to US the girls were diff. but they were slowly beginnign to rebel. khair.
But i think this shift to becoming more conservative has been going on overall for some too. I remember there were no issues with halloween or guy fawkes day when we were growing up. But people were much more conservative when it came to such events over the lasy 10 years or so.
it is quite the opposite in pakistan and even arab countries, younger ppl in general are much more liberal.

I am liberal as well compared to my parents, but i think they dont need to change cause they are not very strict at all.
NB shakila ss can you change your name???
Re: more conservative than your parents?
Good Question!
i’m liberal than my father n mother as well!

I am more liberal than both my parents, they can be so inflexible.
i mum is very conservative.... i would say that my dad is slightly on the conservative side ( my mum has worn off on him) but he is able to see the 'other' side of the story while my mother usually refuses to do that........ me... at the momment i am just too confused... there is one part of me telling me to follow islam and the other to go out and do 'liberal' stuff to say the least....... uni is definatly the deciding point for me and for alot of ppl i think :) .
I am more liberal than both of em. Dad thinks more on my wavelength.. but mom is way too traditional and religious. Mom is like so stuck to those "values" that she refuses to see and reason with anything new( which is not in line with her"values").
I am more liberal than my parents. I wish that I can follow my father's example and put Allah and his haqooq before anything else...but I am not there yet.
hmmmmmm
i know we all label ppl incl ourselves n our family members as ‘liberal’ ‘conservative’ etc
but i dont truly believe in these labels tho i use them too but when i really think abt it its all so not significant n true
is CONFORMIST = CONSERVATIVE?
is ISLAMIC = CONSERVATIVE?
is CONFORMIST = ISLAMIC?

I can't really compare myself to my parents when it boils down to it with all the factors in place. We grew up in different environments. They're completely different people. I can't say that they're faith is stronger than mine or vice versa. If by conservative you mean, practicing religion then I'd have to say, I don't know. Culturally, they maybe more conservative than myself.
We are just products of our environment or what we choose....
**I have to slightly agree with
CocoNut on that we are products of the environments
which create us or the choices we make.
As far as conservative comparison against my
parents, I do think that their conservatism was
better suited for the society, time and age that
nurtured them. As for me, I do think my
conservatism stems well from the society,
time and age of which I'm a product. I see
many things, my parents may not have seen
in their day and age and they saw things
I may never see in my day and age so it's
fair to say we're equal in our conservatism
and justified in ways which we are.
As far as religious conservatism matters
we are all on the same level since Islam
implements only one tradition and
religiously we do follow and abide the same
tradition.**
hmmmm well in some matters i m less conservative than my parents and i beat them fair and square in other
