This service is available to anyone who is either a US citizen or a legal US resident, living in the US for the sole purpose of remitting funds for family maintenance in Pakistan. The recipients of these funds must therefore be individuals living in Pakistan.
I have clients who have used pakremit (national bank of pakistan) , ublremit (united bank limited) , fast cash (punjab bank), money transfer via Allied bank and KASB bank and www.786.pk, to name a few, successfully. i like the first two as they deliver a cheque at home (which is optional) and I can get it submitted at any local bank account I hold.
So it means to have an account in a Pakistani bank first I will have to go to some branch there and then make an account and deposit some money and then use their online service from anywhere around the world ?

I think for pakremit etc you can just do it online via your credit card; you don't need to have a bank account. But you would need to register your details and make an online account (like you would if you did Western Union online) and they will verify your details (you need to enter your social security number and such).
Hence.. you can't register to use if your a non US citizen.
i usually got money from western union for rest of the places or pakremit from USA so dont know any other mod of transfers
Do you have an account in any pakistani bank ? I know that I do transfer to banks in Pakistan from my own bank account here, it doesnt cost that much and it mostly takes a week or so for the money to get there.

proto for the services you mentioned ...do we need a bank account in those banks...or can we just deposit money into your account... pls advise coz WU is kinda expensive now they had a deal going on last year that they no longer do ..
Well I talked to one of the HD on the phone and I asked if she (they) can give us their account information like SWIFT and IBAN or account number privately (through Email) then it takes a week for a normal transfaction from Bank to Bank to go through to Pakistan. And its safe, secure and cheaper as WU.
Thats all you need from the Designer, name of the Bank, Bank Code, SWIFT, Account holder full name, IBAN or account Number.
^Yea, it's an option if your bank doesn't charge much.
In the UK, WU fees are less than £10 for most amounts (less than £100 to a few hundred). UK Banks however, charge £20-£25 for a bank transfer to a foreign bank account for any amount, even if it's only £50.
^ yeah in that case it makes sense to use WU. My bank doesn't charge me much for bank transfer to Pakistan (maybe coz I work for em) and the foreign exchange rate is also better.
Like I would normally pay around 10-20 Euros for 500 € or more with my bank transfer, with WU it would be 35 Euros.
Just thought I would share this with you, I recently had to send money for some clothes I am getting made and my uncle suggested this place called Nexus Communications. They transfer money at no cost, the person in pakistan has to go collect it from any Muslim Commercial Bank.
I dont really have time during the week to go down to the shop (with work) so the guy gave me his account details and told me to put the money direct into his account and call him once done and he would transfer the money.
His rate was really reasonable 127rps to the £ (2 days ago).
So anyway, you have to provide the full name of the person your sending to as on their I.D card, son of/wife of/daughter of (apparently this is also on the I.D card), city you want to send to and their contact number. The money is then ready to collect within an hour or 2. The person collecting needs their I.D card and the manual receipt number (he emails this to you).
Just thought this may be useful to those of you using WU as there is no charge.
His number is 0208 689 4555 or 07944 468888 or email [EMAIL="[email protected]"]rahabconnections(at)gmail(dot)com
I would suggestion opening a money bookers account (now called Skrill - https://www.moneybookers.com)Its a relatively new service compared to paypal but is supported in Pakistan.
For buyers, you can transfer money like you to through your paypal account
For sellers, you can collect money into your online moneybookers account which can be easily attached to your bank account. The transaction fee is quite small compared to WU and Money Gram. Since I’ve been using money bookers’ for a long time, you can ask any questions by dropping me a private message.
