Money transfer to Pakistan from Abroad

:) we have to look at from the aspect of receiver as well.

although exchange companies or some sites are convenient and cheaper for sender but can be troubling for receiver.

we have our customer sending in the money and sometimes guy to collect from is located in busiest part of the city you cant get parking there you have to use a cab, guy is sometimes hard to locate.
twice i had my car taken by police and had to pay fine for parking in no parking.

although western union may be costly but its really convenient you can get it from most of the bank's branches throughout the city.
havent had any experience with money gram but banks are their agents as well & with them country benefits as well.
disadvantage is their rates are higher and conversion rate is also lower compared to banks.

also there are some companies who deliver cash to the address as well.

Re: Best way to send money to pak?

if its for a pakistani vendor(and paki vendors love doing fraudia things) only send through paypal, so if something goes wrong u can get a refund.......if this is your first time dealing with the company please follow this advice.

Re: Best way to send money to pak?

786pk asks for social security number..i dont think im comfortable giving it out.. any other suggestions?

Re: Best way to send money to pak?

^also...786pk.com is choor...

the exchage rate is high...don't goo for $3 each transaction.lol

UBL is grt!

Re: Best way to send money to pak?

yeah why do they ask for that? no other company i saw does.....

totally agree.if they don't hav paypal account then wire transfer.u can always claim money back if they turn out to a fraud.Another way to know if they hav "khote in neeyat" is they'll not giv u their banks swift code n insist on sending money via estern union by saying "thats all the info my bank gives me"

Sending money from USA/Europe to Pakistan

Question for homebased designers in Pakistan:

What is the best/convenient way to transfer money from Europe/USA to Pakistan?

bank>bank transfer?
Western Union?
Anything else?

What works best and is low in costs?

Thanks :-)

Re: Sending money from USA/Europe to Pakistan

shinoo, i use remit ny...best way. and bank transfer...lowest in cost too.

Re: Sending money from USA/Europe to Pakistan

i've been using western union..... easiest for me but apparenlty really expensive and harder on the other end, for the receiver to get the money

Really? I've sent money on a few occasions thru western union without the reciever having had any problems.

Re: Sending money from USA/Europe to Pakistan

i receive money from clients via local currency exchange companies. You have to go to the airport to the persons who sell the air tickets and tell them tht u like to send the money to Pakistan. they will ask u about the name, father's name and id card no of tht person and will charge u a minor amount. The money will reach a money exchange company here in few days from where the person to whom u sent money can recieve money by showing his/her id card..

Re: Sending money from USA/Europe to Pakistan

bank transfer is safest because the money is going directly into the account of the person you are paying but it's quite slow (a few working days) and the charges can be a bit. my bank charges £20 transfer fee which is not worth it if the sum you are transferring is not that large.

western union is quite good in that you can even send the money online (using debit/card), the receiver can collect it on the same day, and the charges are only a few pounds (e.g. sending 20,000RS incurs a fee of £8.90).
you can also check the status of the transfer online. there are no charges for the receiver when they collect.
it should be quite secure; you need to input info about yourself and the receiver, they then need the same info (your name, address, phone etc) and need to go with their i.d. card/passport (that has the same info that the sender uses in the form) to collect it. there will also be a unique code you need to give the receiver that they need to quote as well as all the above info to be able to collect the money.
as long as the receiver has a western union location near them, it should be quite convenient as all the info both parties need can be sent in a text.

Re: Sending money from USA/Europe to Pakistan

I get payments via pakremit.com from my clients in USA&western union from elsewhere.I'm more comfortable for transactions via pakremit since it either directly deposits the amount in my bank account or sends me cheques at my address whereas WU sucks at times(mostly)since I have to get there as early as possible in morning&even then they are usually 'out of cash'.I've even been there upto 4 times for a single transaction.

Re: Sending money from USA/Europe to Pakistan

plus WU here dont make payments at their most of the branches here.

moneygram has been really good as compared to WU though.

Re: Sending money from USA/Europe to Pakistan

Thanks guys for all the information! I will look into it and decide what is the best option.

Whoa and Prototype, 4 visits for just one transaction! Sucks :-/

:flower1:

I find clicknremit by UBL to be the best, cheapest and most efficient fund transfer source from US. You can do it sitting at home by simply visiting their website ubldirect.com and registering yourself for clicknremit. you can then choose to pay using any bank account in US or credit card and can designate an account or pay order delivery at home at the receiving end. The funds get there within 24 hours and practically cost nothing.

and yes you can open your own account in Pakistan sitting in US or anywhere else in the world by using "clicknbank" and "NRPDIrect" products by UBL...I have many a friends who have subscribed to the wonderful services and their feedbacks give me the confidence to suggest to everyone here.. so go ahead, experience and spread the word..someone is doing things to make life convenient for us....

Money transfer to Pakistan from Abroad

Don't know if there has been a simular topic here before.

Recently I ordered some cloths from someone here and as I am sure that I will now be ordering more in future IA for myself and my daugthers I need to have some cheaper method of transfering money to pakistan other than Western Union or MoneyGramm, they charge too much as I will be not be ordering in large bulks eachtime I think it will cost a lot each time I make a transer and I would rather give that money to the designer who is doing all the work or getter fabric as to some international money service.

So what other reliable, safe, money transfer service is there ?

I think banking transit is also cheap but I dont know if the home based designers use this method ?

I would like to hear from shk, prototype or others here who can name some alternatives.

And can I open an account in a bank in Pakistan that I can operate online from here?

Thanks

Re: Money transfer to Pakistan from Abroad

pakremit...it's cheap and most vendors accept it

^it's actually free if you transfer on or over a certain amount. i have always used it with success.
