Re: Moms 2014
ectopic pregnancies are not hereditary.
hcg levels are notoriously unreliable for guesstimating gestational age.
Re: Moms 2014
no i didn’t mean it’s hereditary.im having some right sided pain for last 1 week. not severe but can be sharp at times. going for ultrasound tomorrow althought i was initially scheduled for a week later.
Re: Moms 2014
Did any of you ladies have implantation bleeding? What was it like?
Im 21 months postpartum and am in the process of weaning my baby off milk completely and I got this light spotting this morning which is nothing like a period. Its probably not a pregnancy but it occurred to me that it might be implantation bleeding. I think its too soon to test though.
Re: Moms 2014
Tranquil: Yes I had implantation bleeding for over 2 weeks with this pregnancy! I was changing my pad sometimes several times a day! But it was never like period blood - more like the bleeding you get on the very first day of your period - light and small spotting.
Bella: I also got sharp pains in the beginning of pregnancy - several times throughout first trimester. It could be indicative of several things (ectopic pregnancy, miscarraige) but then again, it could just be your body adjusting to the embryo attaching itself to your womb. In my case, it was the latter, and it was nothing to worry about, alhamdolillah. But it’s good to get a scan to check. Try not to stress out and let it run it’s course - there’s really absolutely nothing you can do except pray.
Bella: regarding showing for thin people - I’m 23 weeks and just starting to show now (that’s almost 6 months). By 5 months you couldn’t tell I was pregnant - and even now you can only tell if I am wearing a really tight fitting t-shirt. But it really depends on your body. If you’re quite thin I wouldn’t expect to be showing until at least 20 weeks.
Mizzrani: I just noticed stretch marks on my breasts too recently! I didn’t even think you could get them there - but I have gone 4 sizes up and counting lol so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. My skin doesn’t feel dry at all - so I don’t understand why moisturising should help? Can someone explain?

Moisturizing sure helps towards the end when you get so so itchy!!!
Re: Moms 2014
did you get pains on both sides or just 1? im mainly having on right side pelvic area and lower back. when im laying in bed, it feels like sharp shooting pain which comes and goes a few times, lasting for just 15-30 seconds.
Re: Moms 2014
Bella: yeah it was short, sharp pains, sometimes I would keel over with the pain! And yes, on one side (I think it was left). They were worried about ectopic pregnancy with me as well, but I also had bleeding so they thought it might be a miscarriage. Alhamdolillah it was neither! So things CAN work out. Try to relax as much as possible and let them take care of you at your scan. If you’re having bleeding as well, I would suggest trying to rest as much as possible - I had almost complete bed rest as that’s what the doctor and midwives advised, but obviously it’s not an option for everyone.
Re: Moms 2014
Stretch marks will fade over time. It’s just your skin stretching as you get bigger, there really isn’t much can do to prevent them. Genetics play a role, so if your mom got them most likely will you. But it also depends on the elasticity of your skin. You get stretch marks when your skin stretches too much too fast so a slow and steady weight gain is helpful as well.
But as I said, they will fade over time so don’t worry about them. Wear them proudly! They are proof of those 9 months you had your baby inside of you
Cocoa butter helps with the itchiness and try bio oil after your baby is born for the stretch marks (I found they faded faster when I used it.)
Bella - if you’re really concerned about the pain I’d suggest you talk to your OB asap.
Re: Moms 2014
My tummy is itchy a lot actually - is that because stretch marks are about to appear?? I have none on my bump so far.
Re: Moms 2014
bella i had that kinda pain in first trimester with my ist pregnancy.. i had sharp pain at my left side.. n scan revealed that i had a simple cyst.. but that cyst disappeared by the end of ist trimester. the only thing my OB advised wuz to have as much rest as i could have.. so u should definately go for a scan.. best of luck
Re: Moms 2014
Mums who haven’t given birth yet - do you talk to your baby? And do you have any names for them (especially if you don’t know the sex)? For UK mums, if you have read Emma’s diary (which I have to admit I HATE) she calls her baby ‘flump’, lol. Do you have a name for your unborn child?
Now that she moves, I talk to her a lot, especially when I’m alone. Don’t really have a nick name - just call her things pyaar se lol.
Re: Moms 2014
I had a name for my baby when I didn’t know gender. I called him BunBun, from “bun in the oven” and that morphed to Bunny. And then a name when I did know gender and I referred to baby throughout and always talked to him whether in womb or out.
Re: Moms 2014
I talk to my baby a lot, and my hubby does too
.
I read this really cute article where the would-be parents both talked to their baby throughout the pregnancy and the baby showed signs of recognizing both their voices. Can’t find the same article, but here’s a similar one
