have u packed ur nappy/hospital bag? I have honestly forgtoten what needs to go in there... munchkin packed it for me last friday... and ive realised how i have zilch of necessary things...
we got singlets in there, some beanies... one romper... and yeap, thats about it..
im onto my every two weeks scans now... at the 32 one, the baby was already down but not engaged... but at the 34th, it was engaged... got another one next week. Fingers crossed it all goes well... ive heard women already being 3cm dilated at their 36th week scan!
I'm on my 2 week appointments too. In the US we don't get any more scans after 20 weeks, all my appointments now are just measuring the belly and a few questions. I'm going to make sure to ask about where the baby is next time though. Yeah, I think the cervix checks start at 36 weeks...inshAllah everything will be fine!
i barely used the stuff i had packed for the hospital, everything was provided by the hospital. the only thing i used was baby's blanket and baby outfit on my last day at the hospital. oh and on the 2nd night we couldnt calm our crying baby so at 4am, we took out the pacifier.
I have sort of packed a baby bag, but it doesn't have much in it. Just some size 0 diapers, but i kind of knew the hospital would provide them. a full body suit, and 2 small onsies? (dunno the name) , and this really fluffy full body suit to keep the baby warm since it will be chilly when he's due. and a blue baby blanket. thats all. i don't think i need anything else. im already regretting buying the newborn diapers, i have a feeling he's going to be big and all he needs is size one diapers not size 0.
S_punk... i havent had a scan since my 18 week one... but during the last few (4 appointments) they have checked to see where the bubba's head is (just by using their hands).. so i thought that was normal? i dunno... with munchkin i went private, so they did a scan every visit... thats why im sounding a bit blonde this time round..
Lusi, tranquil: i dont think we get any onesies or anything.. we get a few nappies.. and maybe rash cream and stuff... but no clothes. We gota take our own.... its been so long, i actually dont know for sure what we got last time...
Drama_queen... i think we used the newborn nappies for the first month or two last time....
i had a C-sec and we didn't have all of these things so here's what i'd pack if i were to go have another baby: newborn diapers, wipes, a few onesies, a couple of full body suits with zippers, take home outfit, a hat, a squirt bottle (for when you go to the bathroom and there isn't any lota business there), overnight pads, moisturiser / face wash / toothbrush (i was in the hospital for 3 days), pj's and a t-shirt, nursing bra, flip flops one size larger than my own (my feet were super swollen when i left the hospital), camera / ipad, baby blankets, swaddling blankets (the ones with the velcro tabs)... and thats all i can think of right now!
Wendy, the hospital I had munchkin at was quite new and very clean.. I wanted to shower all day long.. and they had lovely towels. This one im goign to is a bit old... and a little smelly for my liking... so yes, I shall definately pack my towel

This is very valuable SGC. I think we should gather the suggestions and combine them into a separate thread for the benefit of all.
oh, and i’d also add in a washcloth and a small bottle of baby wash for baby’s first bath. i can’t remember what the nurse used - it was probably johnsons & johnsons, which is fine - but if you are particular about it, keep your own.
and if its a boy, be prepared to pay for the c-sec since its considered elective and OHIP doesn’t cover it. i can’t remember now, but it was a hefty fee- i think $300? it was a bit of a sticker shock to us since we hadn’t known we’d be paying for it ourselves. doh.
as an aside: have your husbands download the iphone (if they have one) contractions timer app for before you head into the hospital. a few of my friends have used them and found it very helpful!

my mom suggested to buy 1pack of zero size diaper.....n when he needs more then buy later....
i bought 1pack....my baby's birth weight was 8lbs so he used them for a week n then i switched to size 1....
same for the clothes....i bought 3 newborn outfits n within a week he was wearing 0-3 months size.....
yep we had the newborn diapers and in my excitement I had opened the box before the baby came.. hospital used the size 1 diaper so we had to get another box as soon as we got home.. we donated the open box to goodwill!
NB size diapers hardly get used,or so I think. My daughter was tiny when she was born but she started wearing size 1 in I think 2 weeks after she was born.
She went through sizes NB,1,2,3,4 and 5 very quickly and was wearing size 5 by her 1st BD.She wore for them for a year.
So who knew the dark line which runs from the belly button down the abdomen, if darker, means its a baby boy I was only told last night. Gotta check in my last months
