Selection should be based on merit. Objective of selecting the best professional players available is to do the job right and encourage healthy competition. If Moin Khan is that players then he deserved to be in the squad by quite a distance. Lame excuses of looking at the future and forget the past support cronyism and favoritism. If a xyz (Akmal) player feels his place is secure no matter what his competition does, then that xyz player has no incentive to improve or raise standard of his game and will be at the total mercy of coach and captain for his selection...not very professional or smart....
Akmal is a lousy wicket keeper. At this level of the game you cannot afford to give players chances when they have such deficient skill sets.
By not respecting individual performances in domestic cricket, we are destined to ruin our domestic cricket structure, make all matters personalized, totally dependent on kinships and pleasing the ppl in control rather than deliver results.
