Mohsin said that if Shoaib can continue to perform like that he can be considered for English tour. My question is how many domestics games are left for Shoaib to play before the English tour and the answer is 2. So would it be wise to select him for Test matches in England even if he does perform well in the remaining 2 limited over games?
Frankly I don't think he can come back in Test matches. His best chance are may be in T20 games.

I would rather have Irfan to be part of the touring squad than Shoaib.

^ Totalle agree with you. He WAS a match winner. Not anymore. Besides, this express broke the track so no chance of him getting back on track.

if he can repeat his performance of England's last tour of Pakistan, I dont if it was 06 or 07. Then surely he can be in the team...Else, he is not fit enough to bowl 10 overs in a day.

Few things to note here: What's unknown is the quality of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa batsmen, but still 6 wickets is 6 wickets.

Also, having the knee operated upon and fully healthy will make a world of difference. His fitness problems have mostly been related to the knee, so maybe he'll be able to stay healthy for longer.

There's no substitute for a genuine fast, aggressive, hostile bowler. Just read some interviews from the batsmen who've had to face him, whether Australian or Indian, and they all make it a point to say how difficult it was to handle the bowling.

he could take 10 wickets out of 10 for 50 matches straight and imo, he should still not be picked. if people like Yousuf, Younis, Malik, etc can be punished/banned, etc, then Akhtar should be given a life ban for his past shenanigans. not just him but his future generations should be banned as well. he is THE worst behaved player in the history of Pak cricket. and should not be allowed back no matter how well he is playing.

plus we don't need him. we have a very fine attack for ODIs and T20s. when we needed him, he behaved like he was bigger than Pak cricket and the team. well guess what we don't need you any more... and now he's begging to get back in. tough luck pappu.

We know he is a wicket taker and there is no doubt that he can take 6 wickets in an ODI against any opposition, the problem is also described below. Its his lack of commitment, his running out of ground to take a break every now and then specially during tests.

thought for a very long time what Salman butt is doing in the T20 squad and the only reason I can think is he and the PCB chairman/cricket dictator in Pakistan/our unofficial captain/unofficial coach/unofficial chief selector shares the same last name.

Yar seriously tell me how many times we have heard him saying that same thing again and again in the last 3-4 years about getting some procedure done after which he will be fit. I am actually sick and tired of him saying after every "comeback" that he is now fully fit and is in the best shape of his life. But then the same thing happens everytime. Either he is not fit or he gets injured in his very first or second game.

I have been a very strong supporter of him for a very long on this forum and had numerous arguments with people like Ehsan bhai, Captain, Smooth Guy etc saying exactly the same thing which you are saying that he is a geniune match winner who is fast and hostile and can destroy any lineup within a spell of 5-6 overs.

But then even I got tired as well of supporting him. What good are all his attributes if he is cannot keep himself fit? When was the last time he played more than 3 consecutive test matches or more than 5 consecutive ODIs for Pakistan?

Shoaib Akhtar still got GAME and no one can argue that...he does have issues or you can say main issues with respect to his fitness and discipline, but I doubt he'll be able to make the cut. Bowlers like Mohammad Aamir and Asif's new threatening form has really had his work cut out for him and with Umer Gull, Mohammad Sami and other new bowlers in the pipe line he will need many more performances like this to impress and win support for his comeback.
