Re: Mohammed the man vs Mohammed the prophet.
Peace All
For the record I can't think of any situation where any of the life of Muhammad (SAW) cannot be taken as a basis for Islam. So on that basis ... evey mortal moment of the life of Muhammad (SAW) has a bearing on Islam. What he did, what he advised, what he did not do, what was recorded by his companions and so on. The things we don't know about ... we don't know about. What is encouraged and what obligatory what is forbidden and what should be avoided are the classifications that we need to look at in context to everything that was done by Muhammad (SAW) and his companions.
To be a Muslim one needs to believe in Allah (SWT) - i.e. Monotheism
But also needs to declare that Muhammad (SAW) is the Messenger of Allah (SWT) ... the Qur'an being the Word of God, the Sunnah being the implementation in it's best way. To reject the Sunnah is to reject the second part of that declaration.
How this is understood by the non-Muslims here is not my concern.
