During 4th days play Aamir Sohail said that Mohammad Irshad Is being called up for the final TEST match @ Bangalore. He said he Is a genuine pacer, anybody seen him bowl?

Not recently... but he was touted to be faster than Shoaib long time ago, then he played with A team for a while where he couldn't impress much and last I heard was that he lost his pace (a yard or two).

Irshad's pace not even close to Akhtar's. He was hyped a lot when he started playing domestic cricket but he bowls more at Sami's pace. But, his control is worse than Sami and his performence when picked for the A team proves that point. He's been smacked around numerous times.
Between Abdur Rauf and Irshad, Abur Rauf would be a better option as he can bat as well...but bowling wise both are useless.

not sure who will show up for the 3rd test. It is also possible that no one will. Apparently PCB wants the touring party to justify the requests for these new inclusions (Irshad, Rao, Rauf).
According to some news, PCB after looking at Arafat's fate is now reluctant in sending new players. So basically they are ok with Pakistan playing once again with Sami in the 3rd test. Blind %$%$^%^

and definitely bowl much much better than him, so why hesitate????

Irshad was faster than Akhtar. Thats what most of the ex-cricketers said of him, seeing him bowl in some camp.

from what i read today, after akmal hit a 100 the new wkt-keeper sarfaraz is no longer needed, and he shall be sent home and iftikhar anjum (who never can be called a test bowler) will fly to india....
with sami and rao we'll have two fast bowlers who r unable to take a wkt in test matches....

Whats the harm in having a second wicketkeeper on tour, especially when your first wk is dropping a catch everyday. The same goes with Danish Kaneria...he's like enjoying a monoply. There is no sign of another full time quality spinner in the team. Danish is being treated as if he's a Shane Warne or an Abdul Qadir. Anyone who is not performing to his maximun....should be made to fight for his position in the team. This would automatically boost their peformance....since there is no shortage talent in this crop.
And please no Yasir Arafat. That guy is not worthy of being given a testcap. Someone mentioned Abdur Rauf earlier. Why has he not been given a chance? Certainly him and a few others were thought of us as the next big thing for Pakistan...earlier this decade. Why were they not honed? For heavens sake...they were from the generation that grew under the shade of Wasim and Waqar. Stars beget stars....wth happened with Pakistan Cricket?
People who dont know **** about Cricket are running PCB, newly retired superstars are in India....commentating, whities coaching the new crop, who cant speak english. Seriously....it were these exact mistakes that brought down the curtain on West Indian Cricket.

I was so happy that Pak draw the 2nd match at least we did not had to face another news of test match loss but after reading this thread and if the news is true about Rao and Akmal than I feel like we just lost the 2nd test.
Damn PCB...they are worst than Musharraf :)

In that case, lets open with Salman Butt and Taufeeq Umar, followed by Shoaib Malik, Faisal Iqbal, Yasir Hameed, Mohammad Hafeez, Kamran Akmal, M Sami, R Iftikhar, Kaneria, Irshad.
We really don’t need M Yousuf, Younis Khan, Misbahul Haq, Shoaib Akhtar in the team, they ruin the party (Indian)

I doubt it. Shoaib bowls at 150+ at age 32. Uber-talented; that's all I will say.
