But why is there so many people going around saying they're moderate muslims? So they do exist. So there is such a thing. ?

Most of these people in my view point are ABCDs or a variety of that breed that wish to make themselves acceptable to their western friends. You are either a Muslim are you aren't. There are no two ways about it.

It is about accepting the way of life Islam defines for all of us. There are five main pillars every Muslim has to believe or do. That is very basic definition of Islam.

But this begs the bigger question if you don't pray, don't give zakat, don't fast, don't do Haj but still believe in Allah are you a Muslim? The reason I give this example is because it defines a majority of the so called Moderate Muslims.

^ ABCDs or celebs ... soha ali khan (among many) thinks she's a moderate muslim ... that kinda made me laugh... she's been doing steamy scenes on hindi cinema...

The way it currently is: There's mullahs, then muslims, then moderate muslims, non-muslims...
The way its supposed to be: Momins, Muslims, Non-muslims. Thats it.

If I still abide by the 5 pillars of islam and refuse to wear a hijab or wear modest clothing... am I a moderate muslim, then?

I am no scholar but from what I know the Hijab is not a religious obligation. It is something that is encouraged or so but by no means a requirement like namaz.

Well if you walk around the US or the UK you have the following:

  1. Terrorists
  2. Fundementalists
  3. Taliban
  4. Mullahs
  5. Conservative Muslims
  6. Moderate Muslims
  7. Liberal Muslims
  8. Very Liberal Muslims
  9. Non-Muslims

Moderate Muslim is just a term. It's the opposite of what you would call a Radical.

Someone is a Muslim If they claim to be a Muslim. Now If they practice it 100% and abide by the five pillars of practice or not is non of your or our business. It's between them and Allah SWT.

The way its supposed to be: Muslims, Non-Muslims. That's it.

So, here’s my understanding so far:

(1: I’m not getting into terrorists, fundamentalists and talibans.)

2: If I abide by the 5 pillars, fulfil all requirements even down to the level of not lying, not gossiping, not listening to music etc, I am a **mullah. **

3: If I abide by the 5 pillars, fulfil all requirements of a muslim as laid out in the Quran (such as don’t drink, don’t date, don’t do zina etc etc) and wear a hijab n stuff , I am a conservative muslim?

4: If I abide by the 5 pillars and refuse to dress modestly, I am a **moderate muslim.

5: If I abide by some of the 5 pillars but don’t fulfil any requirements as laid out in the Quran (e.g. if I drink or date etc) then I am a liberal muslim.

6: If I don’t abide by any of the 5 pillars and don’t fulful any of the requirements as laid out in the Quran, but I still believe in Allah, then I am a **very liberal muslim. **

7: If I don’t believe in Allah, I am a **non-muslim. **

It kinda is my business since its my religion thats being divided into so many groups. I am just trying to understand what exactly makes people moderate muslims.

theres no such thing as moderate .. ppl who want excuses not to practice islam .. they make islam black n white and find the grey area and define that grey area a moderate ..and call themselves moderate muslims ..:smack:

FYI ..your right .. u said your 'no' scholar..:@: hijaab IS a religious obligation ... there are numerous verses in QUR'AAN which obligate the waering of Hijaab.. which Quran have you been reading man ..come on .. please do some further research ..its a different issue .. that if someone doesnt want to practice it .. but saying that it aint a religious obligation .. that IS incorrect ..

ps. BarbQ. I Totally agree with ya 100% ..but with a slight change .. that your a Muslim first .. (you elevate your status by practicing islam then you become ) mumin - muttaqee ..and the opposite of it is ..non - muslim .. no more no less.

I have been reading the Quran written by the Zionists :D As for the Hijab and the Quran. Which ayats specifically state that? Not questioning your claim. Rather for my own edumication.

I suggest .. u look up Sura Noor and sorry i cant recall the verse number at the moment ..but the verse begins as ..wa qul lil muminaato yagh dud na min ab saari hinna wa yah fazna furooja hunna wa laa yubdeena zeena ta hunna illaa maa zaha ra min haa wa maa batan ... and carries on ..etc etc ..

i want you to specifically look up what i ve highlighted and read a few (+3) tafseers ..to actually understand it mafhooman, istilaahan and lughatan.

No it's not of your business. Religion is a personal matter and between us and Allah SWT.

You don't own Islam.

Muslims already divided Islam into 72 sects. As it has been prophesied by the Prophet. Go make a fuss about that. LOL
