I got the HP iPaq 6315 a few months ago. GSM Phone, PDA, picture album, camera, GPS etc etc. Plus it has all the connectivity options you can think of, GPRS, Wifi, Bluetooth, IrDA.
^ Hmmm.... My Verizon contract is ending next week, and I am considering a switch to either Cingular or T-Mobile. So between Treo 650 and this iPaq 6315, which one makes more sense?
Both have same price (Treo is proly 50 less after mail-in rebate and 2 yrs contract). Seems to me that both offer similiar features in a similar way. Treo records video, that iPaq doesn't, but I really don't think thats important. iPaq has WiFi which Treo does not. iPaq seems like an older product.. do you know when it was released?
ps. And before anyone mentions it, no I am not considering Sony P910. Thankyou :)
For me 6315 took the lead cuz of Wifi plus VPN, Terminal Services and Citrix clients (I know of a few available VPN solutions for Palm but I couldn't get any to work on my ex-Palm TW). Plus 650 wasn't being offered by TMobile when I got my phone. 6315 was released just a few months before the 650 so not that big a deal. Historically I've been a loyal Palm customer (for about 8-9 yrs), but because of the few little differences and the need to experiment with a product from the other side, I got the iPaq. Ofcourse being Microsoft OS it needs a reset every so often, especially when i was extensively using my GPS add-on last week on my vacation.
lol. Its not that bad TNWB. I agree that there are little more buzz words in my post than there should be. I was just explaining the reasons why i chose one smart-phone over another.
Ok, lets see… I really want a good functional cellphone i.e. good talk quality. In addition, I want to be able to receive/send email through it (meaning some easy form of data entry and not the usual 3-in-1 buttons of a regular cellphone), should sync with an Organizer on my PC so it holds all contacts, calendar, to-do etc; and it should have blue tooth.
Nice-to-have list includes a good screen (65k colors or more), better-than-average camera, video, MP3 player (bonus). Clam-shell design is preferred, but candy-bar is likely to fit the bill.
I have the treo 600 for 3 months almost and I am very happy with it. I got it before the 650 came out and they have made some enhancements on the 650. I say go for it.
The reason I would stick with Palm or PPC is cuz of the amount of software available for them. You can put in anything from ebooks to graphic calculator, from action games to remote control software. People have started releasing software for Symbian (SE OS), but its still far behind.
