Mob loots, torches Christian colony in Lahore

Re: Mob loots, torches Christian colony in Lahore

Whether we like to admit it or not, all of us must have thought about this point at least once. 177 burnt houses, and not a single death or burn wound is indeed thought provoking.

The argument presented by the residents is that the police came in advance, and got all the houses vacated 'by force', which is why all the residents escaped unhurt, but the houses were burned down. They attribute this to qabza groups with business interests, that want to take over the land.
The argument presented by the police is that they got the houses vacated in advance because they wanted to ensure safety for the residents.

In either case, police seems to be the culprit, as if they knew people were coming to burn the houses, they could have tackled those arsonists, tear gassed them, even killed them in order to push them back. The police did not make a single move, which makes this saga sound dodgy, and makes one wonder whether the punjab govt had some complicity in this. Though I dont believe sharifs would be stupid enough to engineer something like this, but it does seem like something smaller was planned, which got out of hand. Shahbaz Sharif's huge rectifying steps seem to be emergent damage control more than an effort to do the right thing. Anyway, this is all just ideas floating in my head.......and while we are on the conspiracy theories, there are also rumors of this having been engineered by the opposition...If you look at Farooq Sattar's idiotic speech afterwards, you kind of believe that for a while.

Re: Mob loots, torches Christian colony in Lahore

Well the Christians say that they were evacuated from the area (like you have mentioned) by the police for their own safety. The banner was put up in the area (one day ago) by some PMLN guy that the punishment for blasphemy is beheading. With so much tension in the area and assurancse by the police that its for their own safety, people would surely have evacuated. Once they had evacuated, and the government had intelligence that the situation is tense, what did they do to safeguard the area?

The questions we need to ask is that why Christians have been attacked three times (in the same manner) during the past 5 years of Khadim e aala? Not one person has been punished in the Gojra incident. Its not only Christians the way minorities are being treated in the province is in front of us. What can we expect by appeasing murders and terrorists?

Re: Mob loots, torches Christian colony in Lahore

Who will punish PMLN MNA who is thought to be the ring leader of this?

Cries for a lost home(land) | Newspaper | DAWN.COM

But James Rehmat, a Christian worker, openly accuses the PML-N government of actually patronising the mob. “Some top leaders of the N-League, including Malik Riaz (local MNA) led the procession. On Friday night, another local PML-N leader came and had banners put up against blasphemy,” he points upwards to freshly put up cloth banners saying ‘The penalty of blasphemy is only beheading’.

Re: Mob loots, torches Christian colony in Lahore

Thats even more thought provoking and disturbing. The police had a 24 hour head start, and instead of being able to make plans to thwart the mob, they got the area evacuated, as if the arson was a foregone conclusion. And so far, I have not even heard khadime ala make a statement against his own MNA. That wreaks of complicity.

Re: Mob loots, torches Christian colony in Lahore

Firtst, let us get one thing straight. I asked you a question "how about them moderates" . In your interview.

You sure could have chosen not to answer it. But you used the phrase I am beginning to creep you out. Quite indecent choice of word to a question. Just stating you wont answer it would have sufficed.

My "dragging your name" in two discussions came a day after you used that word. And the first one was when diwana dragged your name by bringing up the intrrview. We have been through this yesterday.

Let me repeat one more thing clearly for you. I am done communicating with you. Let us stop creeping each other out, shall we?

Good day.

Re: Mob loots, torches Christian colony in Lahore

I am really disgusted with the comments made by Rana Sannaullah and Hamza Shareef, that they (these two thugs and also those whom I did not heard but have same views) cannot entirely blame the ‘retarded mob’ as the people in the mob were emotionally hurt.

First of all, I do not think that emotion of retarded mob was hurt, as they have no emotion, no pride, no humanity, nor belong to any religion other than religion of Shaitan who they worship. These people … sorry wrong word … I mean, these animals are just coward bunch of dogs who are debasing Islam and must be hurting prophet (SAW) who was Rahmat-ul-lil-Alameen, not what these jahannumis are trying to portray by creating fear, havoc, persecution and killing of innocent people in his (SAW) name and in the name of Islam.

These Satan-worshippers may get away with punishment in this world, but tor all what these animals are doing and have done in the name of Prophet (SAW) and Islam, they along with all their supporters and abettors, would Insha-Allah going to burn in hell forever.

Re: Mob loots, torches Christian colony in Lahore

really? they said that?...that must be the most pathetic comment on this sad saga .... and if that is the case, i wish someone prosecute them

Re: Mob loots, torches Christian colony in Lahore

Only difference between Shareefs/PMLN and Taliban is that Taliban have beards. SS/PMLN is Pakistani version of Modi/BJP...patronizing extremists and terrorists for votes.

Sindh assembly passes resolution over misuse of blasphemy law – The Express Tribune

KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly passed a resolution regarding the ‘misuse of the blasphemy law’ and to condemn the ‘barbaric’ attack on the Christian homes in Joseph Colony, stated a press release on Monday.

The Joseph Colony incident took place on March 8 when over 100 Christian homes were burnt by a angry mob who accused a Christian boy, Savan, of blasphemy. Protests in various cities and compensation by President Asif Ali Zaradari and Sahbaz Sharif followed the incident.

According to the press release Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Sindh and Chairman, Standing Committee on Minorities Affairs Sindh Assembly Saleem Khursheed Khokhar submitted a resolution in the assembly regarding misuse of the blasphemy law.

The resolution states:

“The ransacking and burning on the alleged charges of blasphemy, when no evidence of the witnesses had been recorded and especially when the accused was already in the custody of police, is a distortedly act of terrorism against the Christian Community.”

It further states:

“He [Quaid-e-Azam Muhammed Ali Jinnah] said that “You are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques and you are free to go to any other place of worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion, cast or creed – that has nothing to do with the business of State.”

“Government of Sindh is thus requested to take up the case with the Government of Punjab not only to get the attackers / terrorists punished, but also compensate adequately those victims who suffered mentally and monetarily. It is further resoled that the misuse of the blasphemy laws like 295-B and C of PPC should be restrained and the personal disputes are not converted into blasphemy acts,” the resolution concluded.

After the Sindh Assembly session ended, the MPAs belonging to minority groups stood on the stairs of the assembly to register their protest.

Re: Another nonsense - another bad news!

You are wrong and I am right....again.

If you at least add Mr. Sanal Edamaruku that would be TWO who fled India. Hence ARE was correctly used in my sentence.

Mr. Edamaruku is alive and not old but still fled India.

You call people fleeing India stupid. Fine.

I think you should go and fight against in your country India first before telling others what is right for them.

Re: Mob loots, torches Christian colony in Lahore

The 'protesters' blocked and vandalized the streets, damaged at least 25 vehicles, fought with police and despite Govt. assuring 200,000 rupees per family affected, some are asking up to one million rupees.

Re: Mob loots, torches Christian colony in Lahore

pmln staged this, didnt they? so that they could grab their land and influence upcoming traders election… just sickening! as always they will get away with this!

Re: Another nonsense - another bad news!

Yeah mohtaram, I forgot, no one can prove U wrong coz U are one who never is. So U won again and leave me fuming. :( U used the right word, essence behind ur words were truth, and no one can fight truth on earth. I admit.

And plz spare me ur anger, I never called those fleeing India stupid. I called those ppls, who out of their ignorance commit blasphemy, stupid.

I m all for free speech and criticism. U can testify it in favor of me.

I m already fighting extremism in my country with all my capabilities. I always raised my voice against self exile of the painter who had to fled the country. And for ur kind information, blasphemy laws in India are in place only to appease minorities, and not to haunt them. For instance U can find out the famous speech that one of our MLA, Asaddudin Owaise delievered and insulted Rama, and his mother. Can U even Imagine any minority in Pakistan speaking like this? And that too when U guys cry atrocities and oppression against muslims in India.

So mohtaram, I m already fighting against religious hatred in India, and if U are taking a dig on me by asking me to do so, than plz make ur intention clear, should I not speak against such violence that are being carried out in Pakistan? Does my doing that irritates U too as it irritates many here?

Re: Another nonsense - another bad news!

Well with the standard of morality Indians hold themselves to, even one such incident in India should be equivalent to ten in Pakistan...

To say Pakistan has this many incidents, while India only has less then half of that number, doesn't really make you look all that much better does it?

Re: Mob loots, torches Christian colony in Lahore

According to Jang News:

Actually 500,000 rupees are to be paid to families of Joseph Town. No one was hurt or died. And the protesters were asking for up to One million rupees.

1 million rupees were approved for those who were injured in Abbas town and only 1.5 million (15 lakhs) rupees (three times than those of Joseph Town families) for 19 (so far confirmed shaheed) of Abbas Town.
(Not that money can ever pay for the grave loss)

I think comparatively speaking, Lahore Govt has been quite generous.
