In the other thread, some folks are praising MMA for their vigilante methods of enforcing Islam in Pakistan. I completely disagree with people taking law into their own hands to enforce anything. If this is more of the same (and focus on ‘if’) then I really have no sympathies with MMA on this issue. I know, as we all do, that our police can be heavy-handed at times, just as police in almost all countries of the world, so we can’t pass blanket judgements.
Ofcourse, I am neither in Gujranwala nor was a witness to this race, so my information is based enitrely on media reports.

the other day I was in lahore and the PTV was giving news as there is NO strike anywhere in Pakistan and everything is running smooth. while if u had come on the road or visited markets u would have known wat this Strike had on life. at least i could feel it.

my friend has personaly his car attacked by these mobs, my friends parents were coming back from a wedding and attacked by MMA and they smashed all the windows of the car while his mother and father were inside it. they just assumed that they were comming back from a New year Party, both are 60+, who the hell they are to implement LAW or attack people like this.
So I dont believe on stories from MMA peaceful protest. they are not peaceful at all. they love to take law in their hand and feel proud of it. hurray we have stopped this!!!
i dont know what the fuss is about, every now and then these kind of walks and merathons are in big cities, lahore, karachi, Isb . they dont do soemthing there cause they cant, security is bit more tight.

I have been in protests in Pakistan, even side by side with Jammat, i have been a observer too, I have been a victim too of tear gas!, my bike’s patrol was used forcefully to torch some signs and president “putla” after that I have been very careful to participate in these protests, cause I dont wanna harm my homeland!
Just one question: why would Police invite a problem to attack MMA?? what would they have gain from this. I know any injury or death of a protester, not 1 but number of Police offcials are punished after that, ie suspenstion, dismissal etc. stop of this race is failure to government, so they wouldnt want this.
Police never hit protesters first!!! never, they use charge or tear gas when freely attacked by stones, or physical assault by protesters which is always encouraged. and they see police as only symbol of Government.
a direct example a new born baby is kidnaped by a woman from services hospital, Lahore. kid happened to be grandson of MMA mullah! you know what happened next??? same day police station, police car, torched, busy road were blocked!!!
My father was head of police in that area that time, i know how he faced, MMA mobs on one side, and provincial Govt pressure on the other. baby was kidnaped by their own close relative woman!! was recoverd!

For all those who support MMA and are maligning police in this issue, let me assure you one thing. When MMA protests (specailly Jamaat-e-Islaami) their moto is not peace but to cause havoc for the administration. I am saying this with full personal knowledge and experience. Unfortunately, I was kind of an active worker for jamaat's student wing for a while and that did NOT turn out to be a pleasant experience at all.
As a rule ..the JI are professional agitators..they know how to "handle" the police..and know how to make a rotten police force look even worse..although I am not sure about this demo...but regardless the protest and whats happened leaves a bad taste in ones mouth..
I wonder when MMA is going to invade Heera mundi in Lahore to free up all the forced prostitutes? Is running in marathon is more shameflessness than selling bodies? What needs more aggressives reaction?

Since the Govt was spineless in allowing religion to be re-inserted into our passports, our mma jawans now are under the impression that they can get anything done by force. Unfortunately for Pakistan, Bhutto conceded to the reliigious right when he could have resisted, his daughter and ganja NS did the same. Mush & Co are no different when it comes to standing up for what they think is right. May it be the religious column, Hadood ordinance or Blasphemy law Mush & Co would rather concede to the mulla demands on issues which impact the common citizens of this country and yet be willing to cooperate and deliver whenever Uncle Sam demand immediate results.
As for the MMA band, well folks that is what these guys are all about. They come in different shades but basically represent totalitarian form of societies which does not tolerate any form of dissent. They deliberatly paint an aura of piety around themselves which provides them with the religious high ground and excuse to carry out "their: dirty work in the name of religion. MMA could be from USofA representing evangilical christians or Israeli jewish fanatics or RSS of Hindutva, end result is always going to be the same i.e., complete subjugation under their way of life.
Its time such as these when civil societies should stand up and be counted by denouncing such barabaric acts and make sure that it is not repeated ever again. The alternative is a return to the dark ages where women are treated with contempt and dissenters flogged in public that is they are lucky.
That is true, my friend. You will be surprised to visit Badshahi masjid, and then go in its behind. Various types of dubious ppl will come to u for offering all types of prostitutes. Looking at them would induce vomit then erotic feelings in u. You can safely assume that most of them r froced to be in this situation.
Go one step below, and Panjab/Lahore is full of erotic stage dances and soft porn industry, that work in quite open. I fail to see nay MMA commando actions on them.
So the conclusion: MMA is happy with open prostitution, but not marathon race.
Correction my friend Lostsoul, there is no open prostitution in Heera Mandi or any where in Pakistan. But its there, illegally, in the back allies of Badshai Masjid, Allama Iqbal Town and in Gulberg. So can the current administration stop that, no.
About that soft porn on stages, I assume you are familiar with the press lashing the federal minister had a year back for attending such a stage show. Even the stage actors objected that the stage owners are changing the theater in to dance clubs with so many dance numbers in a single performance. So did the current Federal Cultural Minister did any thing about stopping that, no.
So the conclusion: the current administration is very impotent, when dealing with such issues.
So lets figure that out first and then add MMA to the equation.
When u go to Heera Mandi, and pimps start asking u for hookers, it is quiete OPEN in my dictionary. I never said prostitution is LEGAL…I said OPEN. Big diffrence.
So what is ur MMA is doing about it? Lets not talk about Admin. MMA is not running Lahore or Panjab. But it is certainly interfering in all “non-sialmic” things in society everywhere in Pakistan. So my question is simple: “what MMA is doing about prostitution in heera mandi”? Is prostitution less serious than women’s marathon race?
