Actually lets be correct. Only in the past 6 years has the term Jihad been used by select politically motivated individuals and organizations to define violent movements.
I heard this word "jihadi" in late 90's in newspapers printed by HUM. This was when kashmir jihad was still very popular.

I heard the word Jihadi when I was two years old. That doesn't change the status the term has achieved post 9-11. Remember you aren't important when it comes to World Politics. You aren't a special snowflake and what you say does not matter in the greater scheme of things.

To me - a Muslim, Terrorism is exactly what Israel is doing right now. Terrorism is the COWARDLINESS of the Israeli's to declare war on children, women, older men and yes OUR YOUNGER men too. Israel is a state that sponsors terrorism - that too very aggressively. They are such cowards that they FEAR DECLARING war - so the other side has time to prepare or verbally communicate to stop a war. The Israeli's are cowards because they have the best and such high end technology in fighting a war - YET they choose to simply attack WITHOUT declaring the war on people who already do not even have resources to eat and drink.
Tell me what is Terrorism to YOU?

Actually I am undertaking Jihad in Darfur. I am helping in building schools, water sources and providing medical treatment to IDPs, refugees and the host communities.
By the Islamic definition of Jihad, I am struggling to make life better for my fellow muslims.

Woman. I am not sarcastic or making light of the fact. I am providing a very real example of what constitutes Jihad in Islam.
Any muslim in Amnesty International is taking part in Jihad. Any Muslim taking part in peace keeping forces to protect innocent civilians in Liberia, DRC or Darfur is taking part in Jihad.
By the essence of the definition they are taking part in Jihad.

okay , if it was Jihad - you know what? It would be a HOLY WAR - in which THE ENTIRE MUSLIM world community would be united.
Now just imagine if THE ENTIRE MUSLIM WORLD COMMUNITY being united. Imagine what it can REALLY do.
Do you see any Muslim countries uniting? No. Because it’s CLEARLY NOT a religious war - it’s a war to OPPRESS PEOPLE in a specific part of the world just so the OPPRESSOR can have CONTROL over the LAND.
This is not jihad. This is a political game, where someone is a winner and someone a loser.

The four major categories of jihad that are recognized are Jihad against one's self (Jihad al-Nafs), Jihad of the tongue (Jihad al-lisan), Jihad of the hand (Jihad al-yad), and Jihad of the sword (which can involve combat against non-Muslims)(Jihad as-sayf).
There is a reason why the definition of Jihad is so messed up. Our own muslims are ignorant of its meaning and connatation.

In the News, every now and then, they use the word Jihadi while showing the Taliban in training camps - so all they are trying to say is they are struggling?

The word Jihad in arabic means struggle. The arabic language can not be redefined because you are ignorant of its essence. Actually forget this. I am not wasting time trying to explain to someone regarding religion or politics when it comes to this forum. By all means stay ignorant with your narrow minded view points. As for the Palestinian people, those who struggle to make sure they comply with the essence of Islam, work according to the teachings of the Prophet and work to better themselves in these harrowing times are absolutely Jihadis. Those who fight to protect innocent muslim women and children by hand, sword or gun are Jihadis. Those who adhere to the rules of Islamic warfare are Jihadis.
