I had a miscarriage 6 weeks ago, I was around 3 months pregnant, I was wandering if anyone can can tell me how soon after a miscarriege should I try again and how soon after a miscarriege did u get pregnant!

As I mentioned in my post, the docters advise varies from 1-3 months I would like other women to tell me about there experiences. please dont wind me up this is a serious discussion!!

Shab, I have had a miscarriage at 12 weeks. My doctor advised me to wait a whole year because I had my first daughter just a few months earlier so she thought I needed to recover and be healthy enough for the next pregnancy.
Well, I waited 2 and a half years. My second daughter was born without any complications.

This was my second pregnancy my first was fine and I had a beautyful baby girl who has helped me through this, I just hope I get pregnant soon, but just was wanderin how soon I should try, as I dont want to risk another miscarriage.
How old is your dayghter Shab?
she's 4, and I had been tryin to get pregnant for 2 years after her and finally got pregnent in Aug, but it was'nt ment to be :(

Shab I'm so sorry about your miscarriage. I've had 2 myself so I know how sad this is to go thru. Prayers and wishes for good health to you!
My docs recommended to me that I should wait 2 or 3 cycles **minunum **once it was over. If you dont give your body enough time, theres a greater chance that it would just happen again...so I took a deep breath and resigned myself to the seemingly interminable wait. It went very quickly and inshallah, it will for you too.
Sometimes, just one or two cycles are sufficient, so if you have a doc that you like and trust and if that doc says one or two cycles then that should be fine!

Shab, my doc told me to wait 3 cycles and we did. I dont think we needed to wait that long but i wasnt emotionally ready for another preg yet. I have heard of a lot of people trying and getting pregnant right away and they go on to have a healthy baby. Some arent that lucky. I think whatever YOU think is best for you and your family.

Shab primarily the cause , if known , influences how long the abortion to pregnancy interval should be.
Since most early pregnancy losses ( before 12 weeks ) are due to factors like chromosomal abn or aneupleuidies these pregnancies are incompatible with life and hence abort. Therefore since there isn't anything that can be done to correct this there is no need to wait more than 2--3 cycles before trying again. This is advised firstly for you to recover physically and emotionally from the loss but more importantly so that your doctor can DATE the new pregnancy !
Other causes where one needs investigations usually in the case of recurrent miscarriages are asked to wait longer only so that tests can be done to investigate the cause as these tests ,if pregnant cannot be properly interpreted.
Again I always advise my patients to plan their next pregnancy when THEY feel they are ready for it !
Also you mentioned that you have been trying for two years so it could be that you may have PCO for example which is known to be associated with miscarriages and some doctors adive taknig Metformin before getting pregnant .
