Misbah?

Re: Misbah?

it's not hard to take singles. come on 7 runs off 37 balls is just not acceptable. Its not Afridi syndrome. Afridi is an idiot, please one shouldnt compare him to the likes of ab de villiers. point is at least take singles. if you can't singles when you are consider the best player, you have bigger problems. it does put others under pressure. Maybe I'm being biased here because i really want haris to do well in this tournament, to me he is the key. I saw him under pressure at time where he felt the need to increase the run rate.

Offence is the best form of defence.

Perhaps you should then invest 100% in risky stocks. Why keep some 'safe' assets? :P

Re: Misbah?

When a person is one eyed (Kana) then it is best that he gathers blinds (andha) all around him and then he would become King. Misbah is doing the same. He make sure that all who can really play good cricket and can perform, do not get into team, as their presence in team would make Misbah performance look pathetic. So, with pathetic players in team, many unwary would say that since all batsmen in team cannot play, Misbah has to play slow.

Fact is that, Pakistan with 200 million people, and long history of cricket, where cricket is played in every corner, there must be 100s of quality batsmen, but they are kept out of public notice so that pathetic one-eyed players could dominate the team as hero.

Just imagine, we only know few players who somehow got exposure and thus we can talk about them. Hence I am putting down the performance of some top Pakistani batmen who got chance to play ODI in 2014. One can see that performance of one player, with average 69 and SR 77 was outstanding. So, it is obvious that he (Fawad) was kept out of team so that lowly pathetic players could play.

Performance of Pakistani batsmen in 2014.

Note: After 12 Oct, it was obvious that if Fawad would be in team, performance of players like Misbah would become joke. So, Fawad was dropped before NZ ODI series. Here is performance, and what happened before Fawad was dropped. Actually, Misbah used to send him low in order so that he could not make much runs, and that is the reason, 3 out of 8 times, he stayed undefeated with no partners. Still, even at low batting order, he performed exceptionally well.

One can see from figures above that Misbah strike rate was always pathetic. One should also see from overall figures (presented earlier) why Sarfraz is not playing in World cup. He is in team as wicket-keeper, but his batting performance is also much better than most players (Sarfraz test average is above 40, and that is rare for Pakistani test players). Sarfraz can even open and his performance as opener is much better than Shahzad or any Pakistani opener. Sarfraz opened Pakistan ODI matches against Australia and scored over 30 runs in each inning. Actually, he made 126 runs in 3 innings he opened at an average of 42.

In those 3 innings against Australia, Shahzad made 91 runs at an average of 30.

What was done after that? Sarfraz was demoted to number 7 or 8 against NZ, so that he comes, make few quick runs and get out. This step can demoralize and player, and must have demoralized Sarfraz too (he was making fast runs as opener, still he wad demoted for no reason). Anyhow, Sarfraz performance lower down the order was also good (he made quick runs at reasonable average of 31 ... Sarfraz over all average in 2014 was 35.72).

This is how pathetic Pakistani players like Misbah and his group do politics victimizing players (at the expense of country).

Re: Misbah?

The fact that we lost 4 wicket with only 1 run in previous game when players decided to ‘score’, yes… haha :k:

Re: Misbah?

Once in a while these things happen. But to go into an inning with a tuk tuk philosophy in a limited overs match is putting a square in a circle - or whatever that saying is.

PS - Could you look into the status of my kakaballi report.

Re: Misbah?

There are few fair points and I agree about how players are thrown around at different positions which makes it difficult for them to adjust and their performance drops and then it is used as excuse to drop. But Fawad Alam, Azhar Ali are at least 2 players who were overlooked for someone who has played huge number of ODIs and his record remained below par for a specialist batsmen i.e. Younis Khan. That I believe can be blamed on selectors why they didn’t select higher performing players and got blackmailed/arm-twisted by him. However continues exclusion of Sarfaraz is mind boggling for all of us.

But from your own stats the team has players averaging better than Misbah in 2014 for atleast last few innings i.e. Haris Sohail, Younis Khan (:hehe: ), Sohaib, Shehzad etc., but they still continue to not perform in these games and Misbah continues to perform better than them.

Re: Misbah?

The fact that he resorts to tuk tuking more often is directly proportional to batting failures at top level. When he comes into a decent team position his strike rate then does not remain 30-50%.

Re: Misbah?

tuk tuk is just selfish player who is looking out for himself (his average) rather than the team. He may score his 40-50 but hardly put the team in the winning position. had it being for not wahab, we would be packing our bags. named any star from any other team that has his strike rate as low as tuk tuk. none. watch sri lanka vs australia... i doubt any player would tuk tuk regardless of the score and wickets lost. if you can't take singles, you shouldn't be in the team to begin with.

Re: Misbah?

LoL... you want to compare Misbah with other teams but you forgot no other teams has nincompoops like ours... how many teams lost 4 wickets for 1 run right in the beginning of game?

Re: Misbah?

Had he not seen off the new balls with his tuk tuk... Wahab would have been able to do nothing. Zilch.

Re: Misbah?

That is the problem isn't it. Too much seeing off and on. Rather than hitting to off and on. Even an onlooker can see off a ball. Why pad up and occupy real estate at the crease?

Re: Misbah?

So that the 'batsmen' coming after you find it easier to hit once the ball gets older.

Remember that Pakistani batsmen are terrible at playing swinging new ball and we are using two new balls in ODIs now.

Re: Misbah?

Kakaballi: No doubt that if we compare Pakistani batsmen who are in team, Misbah is better than all, though below world class standard. Most distubring thing is that, him being best batsman in team (his ODI average is 43 and list A average is 47) does not mean that Misbah is the best and most capable batsman Pakistan has (obviously Fawad, with ODI average of '45 and lost A average of 48' is better batsman than Misbah). Actually, we do not know how many world class batsmen Pakistan have who never got a chance to prove themselves at international level and that is most sad thing.

Pakistanis (government, PCB and rest) have to think about the reason why there is so much nepotism and discrimination in country (including cricket), as when nepotism and discrimination becomes too obvious, it only alienates people, spread mistrust and create discord, that is not good for country or future of country.

Actually, if Pakistan loses every match but people feel (or develop trust and conception) that team was selected on merit, without any nepotism and discrimination, and that no one was wronged, than it does not matter. On the other hand, if team wins all matches, still people develop conception backed with reasons, that team was selected on basis of biases, full of discrimination and nepotism, than that would be bad for cricket, people as well as country.

Re: Misbah?

They won't. Their survival depends on nepotism and discrimination. I don't expect any changes unless ordinary people wake up.

People must demand accountability from the leeches at PCB who have been 'serving' the board for decades now.

Re: Misbah?

You are right, Misbah 2014 average is bad, but that is the reason he is performing in world cup. His overall ODI average is 43 and that means, over time, his score would give average 43 runs per inning. Since he averaged 24 in 2014, it is obvious that he would perform better this year … as that is how average works, sometime bad score and sometime good score, but over time, average score of that player merges with his life time average score … unless obviously, if player improves and then average of that player goes up, or deteriorates and then average of that player goes down.

Re: Misbah?

you are right. Nepotism and discrimination has entered blood of many Pakistanis and they do that without even realizing. Unfortunate thing is that, these people make statements, comments, and act to do discrimination and nepotism in such obvious way that all can see, but they themselves become blind to it.
