Prophet Muhammad(SAW)'s miracles by Imam Nawawi
The Messenger of Allah possesses many manifest miracles and signs demonstrating [his veracity], reaching thousands and they are well known.
From amongst them was the Qur’an, the manifest and clear miracle and brilliant proof, falsehood cannot approach it from before it or behind it. It is a revelation from One Who is All-Wise and Praiseworthy. It incapacitated the most eloquent of people in the most eloquent of times to produce a single chapter that would be comparable to it, even if the whole of creation were to gather for that purpose. Allah, the Exalted says,
“Say: If the whole of mankind and the jinn gathered in order to produce the like of this Qur’an, they could not produce the like of it, even if they assisted each other.” [Al-Israa’ (17): 88]
It challenged them to this despite their large numbers, their eloquence and their severe enmity, and it challenges them to this day.
As for the other miracles, it is not possible to enumerate them all due to their huge number and renewing and increasing nature. However, I will mention some examples:
The splitting of the moon,
water flowing from between his fingers,
increasing the quantity of food and water,
the glorification of the food,
the palm tree yearning for him,
stones greeting him,
the talking of the poisoned leg [of roasted sheep],
trees walking towards him,
two trees that were far apart coming together and then parting again,
the barren [and therefore dry] sheep giving milk,
his returning the eye of Qatidah bin an-Numan to its place with his hand after it had slipped out, his spitting lightly into the eye of Ali when it had become inflamed and its being cured almost immediately, his wiping the leg of Abdullah bin `Atiq whereupon he was immediately cured.
His informing of the places of death of the Day of Badr saying, 'this is the place of such polytheists on the and-such a person.
’ His informing of his killing Ubayy bin Khalaf,
that a group of his nation would traverse an ocean and Umm Haram would be amongst them and this occurred.
That all that was drawn together for him of the ends of the earth and displayed to him would be opened for his nation, that the treasures of the Chosroes would be spent by his nation in the Way of Allah, the Mighty and Magnificent.
That he feared for his nation that they would be tempted by the wealth and allurement of this world and that the treasures of the Persians and Romans would be ours and that Suraqah bin Malik would wear the trousers of Chosroes.
He informed us that Hasan bin `Ali would reconcile between two large warring parties of the Muslims,
that Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas would live such that nations would benefit by him and others would be harmed.
That an-Najashi had died on this particular day while he was in Ethiopia and that al-Aswad al-`Ansi had been killed on this particular day while he was in Yemen.
That the Muslims would fight the Turks who were described as having small eyes, wide faces and small, chiselled noses and that Yemen, Syria and Iraq would be conquered by the Muslims.
He informed us that the Muslims would comprise three armies, an army in Syria, and army in Yemen and an army in Iraq.
That they would conquer Egypt, a land whose [unit of land measurement] was the Qirat, that they should deal with their people well for they have protection [being Copts] and ties of kinship [through Hajar].
That Awais al-Qarni would come to you from the auxiliaries of Yemen, he would be afflicted with leprosy and it would be healed except for the space of a dirham, and he indeed arrived during the rule of `Umar.
He informed us that a group of his nation would always be upon the truth and that mankind would become many in number and that the Ansar would diminish in number and that the Ansar would not be given their due [with regards distribution of wealth and leadership].
That mankind would keep on asking questions until they would say, “Allah created the creation…” [Referring to the hadeeth, “the people would continue asking until they say, ‘this is Allah Who created everything…but who created Allah?’” (al-Bukhari and Muslim)]
He informed us that Ruwayfi` bin Thabit would live a long life,
that Ammar bin Yasir would be killed by the transgressing group,
that this nations shall divide into sects and that they would fight each other.
He informed us that a fire would emanate from the land of Hijaz and the likes of this. All of this occurred exactly as he (sallallahu `alayhe wa sallam) said it would.
He said to Thabit bin Qays, “You will live being praised… and you will die as a martyr”, and he lived being praised and was martyred at al-Yamamah.
He said to Uthman, "He would be afflicted by a severe trial." [The meaning of severe trial is his being imprisoned in his house and his being killed by the transgressors.] He said about a person amongst the Muslims who had just fought a severe fight that "He would be from amongst the denizens of the Fire", and later he committed suicide. Wabisah bin Mabad came to him in order to ask him about righteousness and sin upon which he asked, “Have you come to ask about righteousness and sin?”
He said to Ali, az-Zubair and al-Miqdad, "Go to the garden of Khakh for indeed there is Dhainah" who has a book with her. [Dhainah is the woman with whom Hasib al-Baltaah (radhiAllahu anhu) sent a letter to the people of Mecca in order to inform them of the plans of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhe wa sallam) to fight them. It was concerning this that the first verses of Surah Mumtahinah were revealed.
The garden of Khakh is a place falling between Mecca and Madinah. Refer to Bukhari [no. 3983] and Muslim [no. 2494] and Tafsir ibn Kathir [4/344]]
They found her there but she initially denied having the book and then took it out from within her braids.
He said to Abi Hurayrah, when Satan had stolen some dates, “Indeed he shall return” and he did.
He said to his wives, “The most prolific of you in giving charity will be the quickest of you to join me.” and it was so [Zaynab bint Jahsh (radhi Allahu `anha) was the most prolific of them in giving charity and was the first to die. Refer to Muslim [no. 2452].]
He said to 'Abdullah bin Sallam, “You will remain upon Islam until you die.”
He (sallallahu `alayhe wa sallam) supplicated for Anas that his wealth and sons increase and that he should live a long life and it was so. He lived for more than one hundred years and not one of the Ansar was richer than he and one hundred and twenty of his children had already been buried before the arrival of al-Hajjaj [to Basrah]. This is detailed further in Sahih Bukhari and others. [Bukhari no. 1982]
He supplicated that Islam be strengthened through 'Umar bin al-Khattab or Abu Jahl, and Allah strengthened it through Umar (radiyAllahu anhu).
He supplicated against Suraqah bin Malik and the feet of his horse sank into the earth and he was thrown off, he called out asking for safe conduct and was granted it, then he asked the Prophet to make a supplication for him.
He supplicated that Allah remove feeling the bitter cold and heat from `Ali and so never did he feel cold or hot.
He supplicated for Hudhayfah, the night that he sent him to spy on the Confederates, that he not feel the cold and he did not until he had returned.
He supplicated for ibn Abbas that Allah grant him understanding of the religion and it was so. He supplicated against Utbah bin Abi Lahb… that Allah cause a dog from amongst his dogs to overcome him and he was killed by a lion at az-Zarqa. [This is how it is in all of the printed editions; perhaps the author means Utaybah bin Abi Lahb for this description fits him. As for `Utbah, he accepted Islaam in the year of the Conquest of Mecca.]
He supplicated for the descent of rain when they asked him to at the time of drought. There was not a single cloud in the sky, and then when he had supplicated, the clouds gathered like mountains and it rained until the next Friday. It rained so much that they had to come back and ask him to supplicate and stop the rain, so he supplicated and the rain stopped and they walked out into the glaring sun.
He (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) supplicated for Abu Talhah and his wife, Umm. Sulaym, that he bless them in the night they had spent together and she became pregnant and gave birth to Abdullah. He had nine children and all of them were scholars.
He supplicated for the mother of Aba Hurayrah (radhi Allahu `anhu) that she be guided and Aba Hurayrah left to find her performing the ritual bath because she had accepted Islam.
He supplicated for Umm Qays bint Muhsin, the sister of `Ukkasha, that she live a long life and we do not know of another woman who lived as long as she did. This was reported by an-Nasa’i the chapter concerning washing the deceased.
On the Day of Hunain he threw a handful of dirt at the disbelievers and said, “May the faces be disfigured”, and Allah, the Exalted, vanquished them, filling their eyes with dirt. He once went out to one hundred of the Quraysh who were waiting to do something horrible to him and he put dirt on their head and went on his way without their seeing him.
Re: Miracles of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
Besides the revelation of the Qur’an, the Prophet of Islam had performed many material miracles. Below are accounts of some of the other miracles of Prophet Muhammad. The traditions mentioned below are all from Sahih al-Bukhari, the most authentic collection of Hadith.
(1) Splitting of the Moon:
Almighty Allah says, “The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder.” (An-Najm: 1)
Imam al-Bukhari reported on the authority of `Abdullah who said: "The moon was cleft asunder while we were in the company of the Prophet, and it became two parts. The Prophet said, “Witness, witness (this miracle)."
(2) Food Multiplication:
Jabir reported: My father had died in debt. So I came to the Prophet and said, “My father (died) leaving unpaid debts, and I have nothing except the yield of his date palms; and their yield for many years will not cover his debts. So please come with me, so that the creditors may not misbehave with me.” The Prophet went round one of the heaps of dates and invoked (Allah), and then did the same with another heap and sat on it and said, “Measure (for them).” He paid them their rights and what remained was as much as had been paid to them.
(3) Water Multiplication:
`Abdullah reported: We used to consider miracles as Allah’s Blessings, but you people consider them to be a warning. Once we were with Allah’s Messenger on a journey, and we ran short of water. He said, “Bring the water remaining with you.” The people brought a utensil containing a little water. He placed his hand in it and said, “Come to the blessed water, and the Blessing is from Allah.” I saw the water flowing from among the fingers of Allah’s Messenger, and no doubt, we heard the meal glorifying Allah, when it was being eaten (by him). (Reported by al-Bukhari)
(4) Crying of the stem of the Date-palm Tree:
Al-Bukhari reported on the authority of Ibn `Umar who said: The Prophet used to deliver his sermons while standing beside a trunk of a date-palm. When he had the pulpit made, he used it instead. The trunk started crying and the Prophet went to it, rubbing his hand over it (to stop its crying).
(5) The Prophet’s Night Journey to Jerusalem and Ascent to the Heavens:
The opening verse of surat al-Isra’ relates the miracle of the Prophet’s night journey to Jerusalem. Regarding the Statement of Allah, “And We granted the vision (Ascension to the heavens) which We made you see (as an actual eye witness) was only made as a trial for the people.” (Al-Isra’: 60) Ibn `Abbas added: “The sights which Allah’s Messenger was shown on the Night Journey when he was taken to Bayt-ul-Maqdis (i.e. Jerusalem) were actual sights, (not dreams). And the Cursed Tree (mentioned) in the Qur’an is the tree of Zaqqum (itself).” (Reported by al-Bukhari)
There are also many other miracles that were performed by Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) or happened to him. What we mentioned here are merely examples.
Re: Miracles of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
First let me define the Miracles from the prophets by example
When Moses (AS) went to the Phiron and coveyed the Message of Allah, he asked him for the miracle and Moses showed him two, one was his stick turned into a serpant and second his hand glowed like a full moon.
Now above mentioned were shown on the demand of a Kafir who wanted the prove from Moses (AS) being a Prophet of most Powerfull one.
the prove given to Pharo, he denied hence got killed.
In Sina, when the Jews were given man.o.salwa, that was not demanded as of prove of Allah and /or Moses (AS) to be his prophet, but they were asked by the needs, hence it is called in Quran that we Gave Bani-Israel with Man.o.Salwa and they were still unthankfull to their Lord.
I hope u have got the difference between the two kind of miracles.
Now in the light of above explaination can u please re-define the ur posted miracles, telling which one was demanded and which one was given as rehma.

NO I haven't..........
You asked for the miracles with sources....I don't know what other types of miracles you looking for....
There are other so many miracles of prophet Muhammad(SAW), like opening up of his breast twice by Angel Jibreel, story of Bahira monk, etc
But whats the point in posting them when you not gonna consider them as miracles.

Re: Miracles of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
as per my Info,
1) The Miracle of Mai'raj was not asked by the Kufaar of That time, It was Allah's will to glorify his messenger by giving him this special status which was not given to any Man.
2) The Bahira Monk story is a totally fabricated story having no authenticated validity, for example, was it only the Monk u noticed a piece of cloud on the Prophet (PBUH) and all the men and Uncle of the Prophet was unable to see the same for years? No one else noticed that trees and stones are bowing to Him(PBUH). only that Monk noticed? beside, there were jews in Arab ( waiting for the messenger) they haven't noticed the same??? on top of that, no Sahabi (RZA) has mentioned that he has ever seen a piece of cloud following the Prophet (PBUH, was that facility taken away by Allah ?
( assume it was only Monk's eye who saw all these, still this miracle was not demanded as a prove of Prophet-hood)
3) Multiplication of water and food can be considered as Kindness and Barakaat of the Allah given to that particular group travelling/living with the Prophet, Again not demanded.
4) Spliting of the moon, as i have heard, it is said that, Kufar of Makkah asked for the Miracle to prove the Prophet-hood of the messenger ( they already had believe in Allah) and the Prophet splitted the moon to prove his Prophet-hood...still no one accepted Him (PBUH). means hujat tamam howi aur phir azaab nahi aya???
as per quran once the miracle is demanded and deliverede the denier are punihsed in a way that they become example? so why didn't this happens?
Re: Miracles of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
It is an intuitive question... Why would God, that on the one hand asks you to think and reflect upon the universe to attain belief, would on the other hand present strange miracles like moon splitting to dazzle and defy human intellect? Why can't this be an allegory for the fall of the kingdom whose flag sported the symbol of a moon (Byzantium?).
Re: Miracles of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

As far as I know none except Holy Quran.

here is the reference:
Bahira, the Monk
When the Messenger of Allâh [pbuh] was twelve years old, he went with his uncle Abu Talib on a business journey to Syria. When they reached Busra (which was a part of Syria, in the vicinity of Howran under the Roman domain) they met a monk called Bahira (his real name was Georges), who showed great kindness, and entertained them lavishly. He had never been in the habit of receiving or entertaining them before. He readily enough recognized the Prophet [pbuh] and said while taking his hand: "This is the master of all humans. Allâh will send him with a Message which will be a mercy to all beings." Abu Talib asked: "How do you know that?" He replied: "When you appeared from the direction of ‘Aqabah, all stones and trees prostrated themselves, which they never do except for a Prophet. I can recognize him also by the seal of Prophethood which is below his shoulder, like an apple. We have got to learn this from our books." He also asked Abu Talib to send the boy back to Makkah and not to take him to Syria for fear of the Jews. Abu Talib obeyed and sent him back to Makkah with some of his men servants. [Ibn Hisham 1/180-183; Za'd Al-Ma'ad 1/17]
1) Ibn Hisham was a scholar, and you are not a scholar so you don't have any right to declare anything fabricated.
2) According to this ref there is no zikar of cloud or shadow.....
3) Yes may be only monk noticed the sajud of stones and trees at that time as he was expecting these signs as he had read them in his scriptures...
4) Jews were in Madinah and not in Makkah(as long as I know), Jews did come to Makkah and questioned Prophet Muhammad(SAW) when they heard about his Prophethood.
5) And in the end you wrote: still this miracle was not demanded as a prove of Prophet-hood)
^This is the most ignorant statement ever....

first of all, they didn't deny the incident but they called it magic.
The Hour has approached, and the moon split. But whenever they see a sign, they turn away and say, ‘This is evident magic.’ (54:1-2)
And secondly you are making a rule by yourself by saying that "still no one accepted Him (PBUH). means hujat tamam howi aur phir azaab nahi aya???"
Prophet Muhammad didn't say to those people that if you wouldn't believe then you'd get azab from God, he said "be witness"......
But when mushrikin asked for gold(I don't remeber the hadith exactly) and Prophet(SAW) said I will give you what you need but if you are not going to believe in me after this then Allah will destroy you then those mushrikin bacame scared and they said they don't want gold.
^Can someone Please post this hadith with reference.
Re: Miracles of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
This thread underscores my confusion in what is the importance/benefit/braggable point of having the only unaltered, eternally protected, 100% correct word of God in hard cover format while still relying on fables or at best 3rd hand accounts for 1/2 of what is practiced/studied/interpreted in a religion.

paper back too :) but yes I too would like to know, especially when:
6:35 If their turning aside is troublesome for you, then if you were able to dig a tunnel in the ground, or climbed a ladder to the sky and brought them a miracle (they still would not believe). If it were God’s Will, He could assemble them together unto true Guidance. So, do not be among those who are swayed by ignorance (about free will given to humans).
and
6:37 They say, “If only a miracle could come down to him from his Lord!” Say, “God surely has the Power to send down a miracle, but most of them do not use their knowledge.” [He does not wish to stun the human intellect with supernatural phenomena. He wants people to reflect and use reason. 12:108]

This is in start contrast to this post in another thread yesterday:
Do you really think, EVERYTHING in islam is based on reason? If it was, we would've discovered everything ourselves no? Why would there be a need for a messenger to come down and teach us religion? *Evidently some are more comfortable when they aren't required to think,* reflect or use reason. It is much easier to point to a fatwa, "scholar" or just follow it the way it has always been followed even though it was man (not God, not Muhammed) that decided how the religion was to be practiced.

Let me conclude ur expert opinion and ur riwaya so u can disappear from this thread as well and we can have some fruitfull discussion.
As u have stated that iam not a scholar and i'll second that, but what if i say that what i said was from the scholars, and not somebody like Ibn-e-Hisham and tabri who are known to be as Shia or was nitorious for their laziness for checking the riwaya.
I hope u are aware of status of Molana Shibli Nomani and his bright student Syed Suleman Nadvi and book calle Seerat.ul.nabi.
Iam not biased person, so i will not stop here, i know u have not red this book,
in this very book the authors criticsed this incident which is not been reported by many ( though there were many people in the KarvaaN to Syria), niether did anyone (not even Abu Talib) mentioned it when Prophet (PBUH) claimed this prophet-hood.
Now u said only the Monk have noticed the Bowing of trees and stones (rock, what them what ever) where as in quran is is said that Trees only bow to Allah All Mighty, Who is right? the monk and his defenders? or the Book of Allah?
As we are not discussing the Monk incident only, so ill conclude this reply by the critcising on the chain of narrators,
According to Hafiz Ibn-e-Hijar, Syed Sulaiman Nadvi, Tirmizi, and Imam Zehbi ( to name a few) have doubted the authenticity of many narrators of this incident. for example Abdul Rehman Bin Ghazwan was considered un trustfull by Imam Zehbi, If one goes in the detail of the riwaya, Hazrat Bilal (RZA) and Hazrat Abu Bakr (RZA) are also mentioned, it is said in the riwaya that Abu Talib send the Prophet Along with Abu Bakr and Bilal.
Abu Bakr (RZA) was two year younger from the Prophet and Bilal (RZA) was lot younger than both of them.
Niether Abu Bakr(RZA) and/or Bilal (RZA) are in the chain of narrators? why is that.. none of the narrator or defender so far was able to tell the reason.

There were some great stupids have passed in the history of the Man-Kind who taught that what ever they know or do is the only right thing to done or followed. these people often conditioned their faith with the occurance of strange things.
And Allah All might have fullfilled their condition and when they stll carried on with denial.. they were made IBRAT. for the world.
