…so a mini meet happened in London today…!! :smiley: My first GS meet ever…!

DeSiMuNdA has come over here from Canada and today, he and I met up in Central London for some coffee and lunch…

Originally there were supposed to be around 10 of us meeting up, but for various reasons the other Gups had to pull out :bummer:

Apparently the UK gups are infamous for never managing to make a meet happen, so I made an extra effort not to let DM down and to fly the UK flag for y’all…!

We met at Bayswater station at 11 am and I recognised him instantly from his pics…after the introductions, we headed for Starbucks where we got some coffee and had a chat…DM really is such a softly spoken gentle giant…we had a nice convo about GS, family and whatnot…very easy to get along with…

From there we headed for Nando’s (halal portuguese chicken place) where we were supposed to be met by Uncle_Falker and smilly…who unfortunately didn’t show because Uncle got his Fridays and Saturdays confused :smack:

Nevertheless we ordered some yummy chicken and tucked in! yum DM didn’t turn out to be the big eater I’d imagined him to be, when I’d reccomended that he order a large portion :halo: so in true Desi style, we had to have the rest of his food packed up to take away…:smiley:

We had some really interesting conversations and learned much more about each other in the process…DM is exactly the way he comes across online…gentle, funny, insightful and an all round good guy…he did Canada proud you guys…!! :slight_smile:

After lunch, we headed out and went to the Whiteley’s shopping centre to have a lil look around, got huge helpings of Ben & Jerry’s icecream, sat around and talked for a while longer…after all I had to fill the shoes of 8 absent UK Gups…I think I really did finally talk for England today!! :smiley:

Then headed back for the station at around 4pm as I had some friends to catch up with and a curfew to adhere to!

All in all, it was a really great first meet for me…totally enjoyed meeting a Gup face to face for the first time…and will Insha’allah def be attending more meets to come

It was a real shame the others couldn’t make it, would really have loved to meet you all…DM brought GS T-Shirts for all and sundry…so…those of you didn’t attend, I have your T’s here - and if you want them you’ll have to attend the next meet! :stuck_out_tongue:

Sanam: sorry love, we decided not to announce it this time...this is the first meet I've arranged and I'm kinda funny about meeting people I've never spoken to...so we kept it quiet and each only invited people we know/speak to regularly on here and were local-ish...

Will invite ya to the next one though...maybe next time we'll announce it or summat...

Hahahahaha… Nandos in Bayswater was my favourite spot for guppy meets, I did most of mine there!

I’m quite certain DM has been to the Nandos in Toronto before :hmmm:

But the Nandos in the UK certainly tastes faaaar better. Plus you get endless soft drinks!

I work near Bayswater.....but nobody told me about the meet. However I wouldn't have been able to come anyway...as I am very busy at work, was out on site visits all day.
