As a Pakhtun from tribal area who has relatives on both side of the Durandline, I wholeheartedly disagree with the Pak decision to create a wall between me and my brothers across the border. In this day and age, where borders are eliminated, creating a wall between 50 million Pakhtuns does not make sense and certainly deplorable. This is similar to the Berlin wall and can backfire. What do you think?
Re: Military pushing ahead with Afghanistan border fencing
By petty politics you mean bombing markets and attacking schools? already 80,000 or more have died due to this petty politics of India…the day your family on the other side if the border realise that they are being used by India against their own ones…this wall will fade away…
Re: Military pushing ahead with Afghanistan border fencing
I believe you are one of them who believe in greater pakhtunistan . I am not saying it is wrong or right. You can have your own opinion and struggle to get that materialize but I have many of my pakhtoon friends who dont believe in this …
Re: Military pushing ahead with Afghanistan border fencing
It is not the question of greater Pakhtunistan, the question is why I need permission from Islamabad to visit my brother who lives in walking distance from my home.
Re: Military pushing ahead with Afghanistan border fencing
Because of international boundary. U can visit him if u have valid travel documents. Earlier , the situation was not as bad on afgan borders as it is now hence pakistan need to tighten things up for the security of millions of pakistanis. This is right of any country.
Ur local representative need to raise his/her voice in assembly to devise an " EASY " but legal system of making travel easier for the two " BROTHERS " Illegal travel of the two " brothers causing security issues for many pakistanis
Re: Military pushing ahead with Afghanistan border fencing
Because our so called brothers ( afghans) live in another country, that’s why you need a valid visa to visit them. To be honest, Afghans are not our brothers. A few days ago they opened fire on our Pakistani pashtun civilians near chaman boarder and this has been happening for quite some time now. They abuse us on social media and then expect us to be nice, those days are gone brother. Just because they speak our language pashto, does not mean they are our brothers. Our interests are different, infact opposite to each other.
Re: Military pushing ahead with Afghanistan border fencing
Pakhtons on the both sides of the border are different , It is not only story of Pakistan , It is a story almost 150 years . Durand line itself is 124 year old and satellited by British & Afghans . with the passage of the time , the both are different communities . Our side Pakhtons are proud Pakistani . There should be as many crossings as they need , Facilitate our brave Pakhtons need , but legal , Our NIC can be treated as passport .
other side should be asked to bring a digital ID
Re: Military pushing ahead with Afghanistan border fencing
Here you are wrong, Pakhtuns on both side of the line are the same linguistically, culturally and physically, just like Hindi nasal pakistanis(punjabis, sindhis and Muhajirs) are similar to their cousins across the eastern borders. We all live in Pakistan geographically but we should not forget who we are and try to create another identity. We are not IDless.
Re: Military pushing ahead with Afghanistan border fencing
Pakistan has done so much for refugees across the border, they have lived here, attended school here, created a life for themselves, taken up all the resources, yet they curse the country. That is what you are so proud of? What a superior nasl you got there buddy. Riddled with hypocrisy and hatred.
A country of 190+ million people should not secure its borders to protect its citizens just so you don’t have to show papers for visiting a brother who lives in ANOTHER country? Seriously? Omg, how dare they and how unfair for you.
Re: Military pushing ahead with Afghanistan border fencing
Meanwhile our beloved afgan brothers on the other side of the border are doing this on social media, and then they expect us to be nice and friendly to them. They are worse than indians, let’s deport them n shut down our border and settle this matter once for all. @Malakand
Re: Military pushing ahead with Afghanistan border fencing
Ok first of all there is a major conflict in the first post.
The suggested fence between Pak and Afgh will not be a wall. Its just a fence with the main entrance/exit still there.
And it just cant be equated with Berlin wall. Seriously? East and west germany had completely different dynamics and very little to nothing animosity when berlin wall was demolished resulting in the unity of both countries. i.e. United Germany the way we see it today.
So Malakand, do you anticipate Pak and Afghanistan will become one shortly? If not then take this example out of your head.
also take all the statements of Afghani leaders in last few years: It clearly seems that to them Pak is the arch rival while India is the sweetheart Afghanis had been getting wet dreams about all their teenage.
So the question is: Why not a fence? Rather may be it should be a complete wall with no entrance of Pakistanis or Afghanis in each other’s border
Re: Military pushing ahead with Afghanistan border fencing
This will not be considered Berlin Wall if Pakhtuns were left alone - we are content with the status quo. The current situation of Pakhtuns are synonymous with Germans of 1945 regarding the division. Pakhtuns have no animosity among them same case was with Germans but non-German divided them with the Berlin Wall, similarly the non-Pakktuns are imposition this Fence on Pakhtuns. We don’t care about Afghanistan, Pakistan or India as long as we are left alone - geography doesn’t mean anything, geography always changes.
Furthermore, if you consider India your arch enemy, then why you are dancing with them every evening on the Wahga border and why you have diplomatic relation with them - How do you justify that Afghans should not be friends with them?
Re: Military pushing ahead with Afghanistan border fencing
I am not wrong , Our side is proud Pakistan and the call other side people Afghani
No Pakistani Pashtun of KPK wanted to change KP into Afgan province
A Pashtun leader of Baluchistan talks about this but it is his political move only to keep himself popular in Pashtuns of baluchistan
almost 33% of KPK population now live in other provinces of Pakistan ans permanently settled there . This issue may be in your mind but not on ground
Sweet Dream
